Q4)His SpaceX company make the re-usable Falcon 9 rockets. The Falcon 9s land on platforms in the Atlantic. The platforms are named after spaceships in whose novels: Val McDiarmid’s, Iain M. Banks or Ian Rankin’s?
A4)Iain M. Banks. (The ships were featured in his Culture novels. And whimsically namedª. The novels also inspired Elon’s Neuralink company.)
Q5)Finally … ? Elon’s in charge of his own electric car company. Which electric car company?
* You know, I haven’t seen a top-loading washing machine for years, Olga: I don’t think them make them in the UK.
Well … the trap’s in: all I need now is the gloves!
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I’ll survive, Debbi. Oh … I’ve picked up the blu-ray version, and will be ripping it soon. There’s even a very rare interview with the man himself: and another with Catherine McGoohan, his daughter …
^ I don’t think he gets much airplay, Edith: he’s not known for music. It’s very ambient, I think: a bit like some of Brian Eno’s work.
Q5) The Indian Ocean Good luck with the trap and the gloves. Here, very early in the pandemic, it was almost impossible to find them (even the hospitals were struggling) but now there doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm not sure if you have any pound shops around. Evidently, rubber gloves, the washing-up kind, would do the job, although it might be a more expensive solution (unless you have a pair you're ready to get rid of). Top-loading washing machines are quite handy for tight places and also for people with mobility difficulties, as bending over to load them can be a bit tricky. Some of the big manufacturers make them, and there are new models, for sure, but I don't think they sell a lot (they are slightly more expensive as well, for a similar model, but I guess it's still cheaper than moving to a bigger place)!

Hi Paul. Yes, I realize Elon Musk is known for things other than music. And I am typing that with the kindest vocal inflection. I like many types of music, including ambient.
I am staying hydrated. I hope you can find the gloves you need soon.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
