Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-11-2021: We’re Going to Barbados

30th November, 2021.

Right: I’m officially a busy bee.

I had a busy — ish — day, yesterday: having the first of a years worth of meetings with my Restart case worker.

That was fun.   Or, at least, efficient.

I know this: the office has some of the poshest toilets I’ve seen in an office.

It’s got a shower!

~≈fi≈~

That was yesterday.

Tomorrow?

I’ve got blood tests in the morning: ones I have to fast for.

Which is nice!

And I’ve got the booster jab in the afternoon.

On the other side of town.

But thankfully, nowhere near Larchwood Gardens Primary School: the school I went to when I was my nephew’s age!

That’s a bit worrying … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Edith†, Mum† and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, Mum on three, and Edith on two.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video

Q1)        30th November is Independence Day in Barbados.   Marking its Independence from where: France, Germany or the UK?

Q2)        Barbados became independent in which year of the 1960s?

Q3)        At the time of writing, Barbados is a monarchy.   It becomes a republic in which years: 2021, 2022 or 2023?

Q4)        Barbados is part of which group of islands: the Lesser Antilles or the Greater Antilles?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Mount Gay, Cocksure and Malibu are Barbadian what: beers, rums or whiskies?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Beatles song, I Want to Hold Your Hand was released in the UK: on 29th November, 1963.   It would have become №1 on the day of its release: had it no been blocked by a song by which band?
A1)        The Beatles.   (It was blocked by She Loves You)

Q2)        29th November is Liberation Day, where: Albania, Brazil or Croatia?
A2)        Albania.

Q3)        29th November, 1947, saw the UN announce its plans to partition where: Palestine, Ireland or Korea?

A5)        Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.
Here’s a thought …
“Dancing was always part of my culture growing up in Barbados.”
Barbadian musician, Rihanna.
And a song …

(You couldn’t use Coconut Airways, these days!)

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        It gets scarier, Olga: turns out the one Brentwood case went to the same primary school I went to, many years ago.   Thankfully, it’s not the same one Jude’s at.   He’s already had COVID — the Delta variant, I think — but even so … !
Actually, the amount of Wheel of Time novels is quite intimidating: especially given the size of the things.   They’re like breeze blocks!   But that does remind me, I’ve got the TV version of Foundation sitting around: I’ll have to watch it at some point!
(I’ll sit down with that film, at some point!)

I hope that work’s quiet, Edith: the gardeners here can be noisy.   (Did I tell you I’ve got a Was (Not Was) album on, in the background.   It’s called Boo!: it’s a good album, but very strange.   The Kris Kristofferson song might appeal to you, though!)

        Hello, Mum!

^        The dialogue’s very good, Debbi: especially between Yaz and Dan!   (Oh, I mentioned Boo!, the Was(Not Was) LP to Edith.   Needletooth is … interesting!)

That's scary about the school. Here there was one case diagnosed yesterday and some more suspected ones, so... well. No surprises there. Good to know things went well. Good luck for the blood test tomorrow!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
