* There’s definite similarities to London, then, Olga. The place started as the main Roman city in England: and port, if I recall. There’s bits of the old Roman Wall still standing, too. There’s also historians who’ll point out that the Great Fire of London, the one in 1666, wasn’t the first. The first one was started by Boudica, when she led the Revolt.
I envy you the weather, Olga: I got seriously pushed about by the wind when I bough lunch!
† Hello, Mum! (Can you ask Jude if he wants a bag of Hula Hoops?)
‡ You’re not wrong, there, Debbi! (Oh, am old friend’s lent me some old Nigel Kneale series: I’ll have to let you know how they go!)
Q5) Hawai Yes, there are similarities. The Romans did follow a grand plan everywhere. Good to know you weathered the storm (sort of), but I've heard there were quite a few not so lucky. Fingers crossed the weather settles. I share your view on Ukraine. I think Ukrainians are quite fed up with everybody meddling and ramping up the pressure. They are caught in the middle of the whole campaign. One wonders what on Earth are the Americans thinking about. (They don't seem to have an ounce of common sense between the whole lot). (I think both Putin and Biden need their mothers to come and give them a slap and tell them to behave and play nice). Here, the main right-wing party (PP, Partido Popular) is going through a crisis. The president of the Community of Madrid (accused of corruption because her brother got a big contract with the community and, of course, seems to have got handsomely paid for hit) is accusing the president of the party of spying on her and all hell has broken loose. They are hurling accusations at each other. One of the Catalan politicians (Gabriel Rufián, he has quite a talent for making amusing comments) said that it feels like a Sicilian family mafia war. To tell you the truth, if reminds me of a bad soap opera, but...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

I escaped any damage yesterday. A few fence panels blown down near me. How ever there was a major tree strike in Brentwood.
