Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-4-2022: The City of Angels

4th April, 2022.

It’s Monday: and frankly?

The start of a busy week.

I’ve an Zoom job interview, today, a couple of in person interviews Thursday and Friday, Nephew sitting on Wednesday … of, and a couple of phone calls.

The cheapest way of doing that?

Is by mobile.   Given the signal situation?

I’m going to have to go out of that.

Wouldn’t you know it?   It’s raining.

Yum.

*        I’d go with that, Olga: I think most political systems have some good ideas in them.   It’s only when people get involve that it starts getting iffy … !
What was it Marx is supposed to have said?   ‘From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs?’   He may well have had a point, though: money talks
Yes: privateer hackers do sound a little worrying, doesn’t they?   I remember seeing Mother Courage and Her Children many years ago.   In the first act, during wartime, the eldest son steals a cow from the enemy, and is hailed as a hero.   In peace time, during the second act, he steals another cow … and gets executed.   Brecht had his eyes on the ball^.
Actually, mentioning Brecht gives me an excuse to play this.   I don’t think the English version don’t have the same ‘R’ sounds!

        Hello, Mum!

‡        Oh, I am, Debbi.   So have a lot of merchandise sellers!
Now you mention it … ?   I don’t think Mr Putin’s got a sense of irony … !   Although, according to some reports?   He’s got serious thyroid problems.

^        I think I’ve mentioned the performance, before, Olga: Judy Dench played Mother Courage, and Zoe Wanamaker played the daughter.   I’ve distinct memories of Wanamaker on the roof of the family’s cart, banging on a drum to call for help.

Yes, you're right about Brecht. We did study him (well, especially his notions on theatre, as I did some courses in theatre at Sussex), and Mac The Knife is quite a song. There are quite interesting versions in Spanish as well. And I'm quite fond of Pedro Navajas as well...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-vE86LdfLo
Orquesta Platería is from Barcelona and they played locally in the neighborhood festivals. Of course, Rubén Blades's version is great as well, and he wrote it, so...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
