Q5) Finally … ? The Late Late Show began broadcasting on RTÉ One: on 6th July, 1962. It’s the world’s longest running what, by the same channel: sci-fi show, chat show or news bulletin?
The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* I think Boris he’s only done one good thing, Olgaª. Banning open alcohol cans, and drinking, on the Tube. Having worked nights in London? It’s the one thing I think he got right.
Ridiculous? Doesn’t even start. He’s had about ten or so ministers resign, this morning. Including Michelle Donelan, who was named as Education Secretary on Tuesday. She’s resigned after thirty-six hours! And Nadhim Zahawi — named as Chancellor on Tuesday — has urged him to resign.
Yes: I know the quotes, Olga. It’s sort of matched by a quote from Cromwell, when dismissing a parliament: “In the name of God, go!” Something David Davis, MP, quoted in the house in January: when he told Boris to resign.
Oh, thank GOD! The Today programme just announced that Boris is standing down as Conservative party Leader. He’ll remain in place as PM until a new leader is picked, in the autumn. It’s so recent, the BBC haven’t updated their site! He took his time!
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I think you’re right, there, Debbiª. I’m also very aware of various — unofficial — militias doing the rounds!
Oh, have you seen the news? About the Prime Minister? He’s finally resigned! He’s better at taking hints than Donald Trump! Hopefully, he’ll end up in a village in North Wales.
^ Sorry, I forgot to include a footnote, yesterday, Trevor! At any rate … ? Are we talking about Hereward the Wake, there? I know the name, but not much else.
ª Does anyone know how to pronounce lich? Is it litch, lish or leash? It’s been bothering me for years!
Q5) Starship Troopers. Go figure! (I love this movie, although I prefer Tremors. I know they are different, but the monsters in both always remind me of the other).
I was wondering if Lich would be pronounced as the Germans pronounce light, but I guess not, although there is some controversy and different opinions... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIalyhyrCHw
Finally! I kept checking yesterday and wondering if he was going for the Guinness record of more resignations in one’s cabinet... Good luck (I won’t say it surely can’t get worse, because... well, we all know what might happen).
I'm picturing Boris stuck in village in North Wales. Probably run for the office of #2. How fitting would that be? Now, if only Trump would join him there! :)
1. the UK 2. Boris Becker 3. Regulus 4. Japan 5. Starship Troopers
That was a trip down Memory Lane! :) Boris Becker, I remember.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
