Q2) 4th August is the Feast day of Saint Sithney. He’s the patron saint of mad dogs: and a village called Sithney. Where IS Sithney: Somerset, Devon or Cornwall?
† I have to admit, Olga: QI needs more Susan Calman. She ends up doing something hysterical!
And I knew half the tips the article: but cheers, though! It mentions Disk Utility. Which was exactly the app I used, yesterday: just to check the drive out. It doesn’t work quite the way it used to, though: it doesn’t do permissions check, any more, which was a useful feature!
There’s always that one family, isn’t there … ? And that property could well have been a private one … that the owner rented to the council so the council could sub-let it. An old boss of mine did it: from what I’ve understood, there’s some strict rules about what furnishings have to be provided. A problem family renting these properties can be moved on if there’s anti-social behaviour.
Now … I have to ask if Saint Sithney was the patron saint of Nöel Coward …
‡ Yep, I managed to correct it, Debbi! Phew! I was rushed: what can I tell you … ?
Oh, I’m watching more Picard, tonight. I don’t know who’s more menacing, the Borg Queen, or Q! Oh, do you remember the punk on the bus, in Star Trek 4? He turns up again, in Picard!
Q5) 27 Yes. Here there are similar schemes. If you have a property, you can offer it to the council for them to rent out. The idea is that you don't have to pay some of the usual council taxes on the property they, they do the legwork and check the people who are going to rent, although I think there is a strict cap on how much you can charge, but they are supposed to deal with any nuisance or issues. I would consider taking it up in the future with the flat I have in Hospitalet if the estate agent who deals with it was no longer interested or we couldn't find anybody interested. (The contract is due for renewal in a few months, if the family there are still interested, or we'll have to look for somebody else. Probably some renegotiation will be in order, as we have not made any changes to the rent for the last 4 years and everything has gone up, but we shall see. I thought you'd know all the tricks in the article, but as it was quite recent, it was worth sharing it. I hope the meetings go well and are not too taxing. Oh, and perhaps they should bury Joseph Merrick. Surely, they've had more than time enough to study anything that could be studied, and pictures and models will serve the same purpose.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
That’s a thought, Debbi: has your version of Disk Utility still got a permissions repair feature? I miss that!

It might. I'd have to check. How I find that out?
