Q1) The first episode of Doctor Who was broadcast: on 23rd November, 1963. What was it called: An Unearthly Child, The Dead Planet or The Edge of Destruction?
Q2) More to the point? Who takes over as the 14th Doctor, in 2023?
Q3) Saint Georges Day is marked on the 23rd November. Where: Georgia, Catalonia or England?
Q4) 23rd November, 1982, saw the birth of sprinter, Asafa Powell. He specialises in which distance: 100 metres, 200 metres or 400 metres?
Q5) Finally … ? 23rd November, 1887, saw the birth of actor Boris Karloff. He played an iconic monster in 1931. In which film: The Mummy, Dracula or Frankenstein?
Q3) Actor, singer and songwriter, Hoagy Carmichael, was born on 22nd November, 1899. It’s said — by a very well known writer — that a well known fictional spy looks like Carmichael. Which spy: James Bond, George Smiley or Harry Lime?
* I will definitely have to keep an eye open, there, Olga! I keep seeing adverts for them floating past. You do know con Trier was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, recently? It’s a tough one to live with: but Michael J. Fox seems to be coping well.
† Hello, Mum! (James Bond’s supposed to look like Hoagy Carmichael!)
‡ Really? I thought you were far younger, Debbi! Let me know if I’m laying it on too fast! At ANY rate? Did you know he won the Oscar for Forrest Gump … the same year Peter Capaldi won Best Live Action Short Film: for Franz Kafka’s It’s A Wonderful Life? Six Degrees of Separation, and all that … !
Oh, Olga, Debbi: I know it’s possibly NOT going to be any encouragement — or, necessarily any interest! — but George Takei, Neil Gaiman and Stephen Fry are on Mastodon.
Mr Fry hasn’t had to get stuck in a lift for Mastodon …
Thanks, Paul. You can keep trying, but each one to its own. Q1) An Unearthly Child
Q2) David Tennant
Q3) Georgia (We celebrate on the 23rd of April as well)
Q4) 100 metres
Q5) Frankenstein I didn't know about Karloff's aunt. Anna Leonowens of The King and I. Going shopping is becoming like a horror movie with the prices nowadays, but I hope everything is good with you. Oh, and I didn't know about Lars Von Trier. I know he had suffered from depression, so the news will be even harder to take. It is a terrible illness, and Michael J. Fox has managed incredibly well so far, but one of my uncles suffered from it and he deteriorated very quickly. It was terribly sad.
I wouldn't mind being stuck in a lift with Mr. Fry.
And I'm also on Mastodon. Not that I have clue what I'm doing there. :)

I also hear there's something called Hive. A lot of authors I follow on Instagram seem to be going there. Yeah, okay, well ... I know I'm here. Somewhere. :)
I just got through making cranberry sauce from scratch. It's a miracle I could find the kitchen! :)
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
