Telling us that it’s getting increasingly hard for the over fifties to find work: as a majority of employers don’t want to hire people in the age bracket.
I’m one of those people.
Frankly?
The article only confirms something I’ve known for a while.
But it’s nice to see it in print …

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
“Friends and comrades, the light has gone out of our lives, and there is darkness everywhere, and I do not quite know what to tell you or how to say it.”
Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, announcing Gandhi’s death.
* Oh, lord, don’t I know it, Olga? Sainsbury’s own brand frozen sausages are £1.50 for twenty. They do a premium own brand for £2.95. Or an equivalent ‘posh’ brand — Richmonds — for £3.30. Guess which ones I get?
That’s before we mention LeGuin’s The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas: our equivalent to that locked up child is in a sweatshop making cheap sausages, and equally cheap trainers.
† Hello, Mum!
‡ Debbi, you know me too well! :D
Oh … Picard Series Three is due to start on 16th February, this year: I thought you should know. It looks rather good. (Oh, Michelle Hurd’s back as the seen stealing Raffi. Oh, and one character in the trailer has yellow eyes … )
Q5) Great Souled Yes. I am not surprised about the over 50s not being employed. We have people retraining here, but even with that, unless you go into something with a lot of offer, it must be really hard. (Here they keep saying there are jobs empty, but I can't see myself being a machinist in a ship or even a sailor...).
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.

Ageism. It's a thing. :)
You'd think employers would value experience. Hmm ...? :)
