Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-5-2023 — The Coronation.

6th May, 2023: The Coronation.

Right …

I don’t know about King Charles … but I’m having a long day.

I was up at five: to try and see how much of the Coronation I could watch … without getting bored!

I’m not especially royalist.

But this is possibly the only Coronation that’ll happen in my lifetime!

Did I mention I had a doctor’s appointment, yesterday?

I had a doctor’s appointment, yesterday.

Or, at least, a diabetic checkup.

Apparently, my lipids are up.

But my glucose level has gone from 62 to 57.

So that’s something.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Mum† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        6th May, 2023, will see King Charles crowned as king.   Of where: the UK, the Netherlands or Japan?

Q2)        He is Charles the what: First, Second or Third?

Q3)        He’s being crowned in which Church: Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey or Westminster Cathedral?

Q4)        The King will be crowned with what: the Imperial State Crown, Saint Edward’s Crown or the Crown of Scotland?

Q5)        The Coronation will feature the King.   But will be conducted by whom: the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Archbishop of York or the Archimandrite of Tara?

Q6)        For the key part of the ceremony, the King will be sitting on what: Saint Edward’s Chair, Saint Edward’s Throne, or the Woolsack?

Q7)        That furniture will contain the Stone of Scone.   The Stone is from where: Scotland, Wales or Ireland?

Q8)        In a part of the service that won’t be shown on TV, the King will be anointed with oil.   Oil mostly made from what: olives, apples or cabbage?

Q9)        Part of the music for the Coronation will be performed … in what: Breton, Welsh or French?  (This question has been mildly revised since I wrote it, and made the video: as more has come to light about the service.)

Q10)        Finally … ?   Charles’ coronation will be the country’s first since that of his mother.   Her coronation was in which year of the 1950s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        5th May, 1821, saw the first publication of the Manchester Guardian.   What’s the paper now called?
A1)        The Guardian.

Q2)        The paper’s now published in which format: broadsheet, Berliner or Compact?
A2)        Compact.

Q3)        It’s now published in which UK city: London, Manchester or Liverpool?
A3)        London.

Q4)        The paper’s famous — or infamous — for what: page three models, typos or bingo?
A4)        Typos.   (It’s notorious for them!)

Q5)        Finally … ? The paper’s sister publication — the one published on Sundays — is called what: The Sunday Times, The News of the World or The Observer?
A5)        The Observer.
Here’s a thought …
“Compared with previous coronations, the ceremony will undergo some alterations to represent multiple faiths, cultures, and communities across the [country], and will be shorter than his mother's coronation …”. From the Wikipedia entry on Charles’ Coronation.
And a song: one that’s been sung at coronations since 1737 …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        We’ve a big dinner and party, planned, Olga.   Anna, my other sister, has her birthday on the 12: so they’re having a joint party.
And yes, ‘everything’ seems to some stuff up!   I hope the day goes well for you!   (Why AM I not surprised about Franco’s morals?   I’m guessing Juan Carlos must have been an improvement.   Well, I say improvement … !)

        Hello, Mum!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
