Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser— 7th May 2023 Teaser.

7th May, 2023.

Right …

It’s officially the day after the Coronation.

Feel free to excuse the swearing, and the washing machine: but the Archbishop had to have a couple of goes, putting the thing on!

The crown.

On Charles’ head.

I thought I should clarify that!

At any rate?

I watched the ceremony.

I’m not sure I’d call it enjoyable: I’m not that much of a royalist.

But it was interesting to watch.

And something of a rarity: after all the last one was seventy years ago.

Oh, JUST in case you’re wondering?

The page boy they cameras focus on, at one point … ?

Was Prince George: eldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and second in line to the throne.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone more bored … unless it was his younger sister and brother …

~≈Ü≈~

The one surprise I had about the whole thing, though … ?

Was Michelle O’Neill’s attendance.

In case you didn’t know?

She’s the First Minister Designate of the Northern Irish assembly, and MLA, Member of the Legislative Assembly, for Mid Ulster …

And a member of Sinn Fein.

The last person I’d’ve expected to go.

They’re not exactly royalists!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring nine out of ten in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        7th May is the feast Day of Saint John of Beverly.   Beverly is in what’s now where: West Yorkshire, East Yorkshire or North Yorkshire?

Q2)        7th May, 1794, saw Robespierre introduce a new state religion to France.   That religion was the Cult of the Supreme … what?

Q3)        7th May, 1274, saw the opening of the Second Council of Lyon.   It made plans for the election of whom: the Pope, the US President or the UK’s Prime Minister?

Q4)        The Burning of Edinburgh took place on 7th May, 1544.   It was during a war between Scotland, and whom: England, Wales or Ireland?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Norway Debate started in the House of Commons: on 7th May, 1940.   It lead to the downfall of which British Prime Minister: Neville Chamberlain, Winston Churchill or Clement Attlee?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        6th May, 2023, will see King Charles crowned as king.   Of where: the UK, the Netherlands or Japan?
A1)        The UK.

Q2)        He is Charles the what: First, Second or Third?
A2)        Charles the Third.

Q3)        He was crowned in which Church: Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey or Westminster Cathedral?
A3)        Westminster Abbey.   It’s been used for coronations since 1066.   Saint Paul’s was the location for the King’s first marriage: to Princess Diana.   Westminster Cathedral is London’s main Roman Catholic Church: it’s thus not going to be holding what, essentially, is an Anglican service.

Q4)        The King will be crowned with what: the Imperial State Crown, Saint Edward’s Crown or the Crown of Scotland?
A4)        Saint Edward’s Crown.   (The only time it’s used is during the Coronation.   The Crown of Scotland will be presented to the King in a separate ceremony.   Charles wore the Imperial State Crown after his crowning with Saint Edward’s Crown: and will next wear it at the State Opening of Parliament.)

Q5)        The Coronation will feature the King.   But will be conducted by whom: the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Archbishop of York or the Archimandrite of Tara?
A5)        Archbishop of Canterbury.

Q6)        For the key part of the ceremony, the King will be sitting on what: Saint Edward’s Chair, Saint Edward’s Throne, or the Woolsack?
A6)        Saint Edward’s Chair: also called the Coronation Chair or King Edward’s Chair.

Q7)        That furniture will contain the Stone of Scone.   The Stone is from where: Scotland, Wales or Ireland?
A7)        Scotland.

Q8)        In a part of the service that won’t be shown on TV, the King will be anointed with oil.   Oil mostly made from what: olives, apples or cabbage?
A8)        Olives.   (Unlike the oil used on his mother, this version is vegan.)

Q9)        Part of the music for the Coronation will be performed … in what: Breton, Welsh or French?
A9)        Welsh.

Q10)        Finally … ?   Charles’ coronation will be the country’s first since that of his mother.     Her coronation was in which year of the 1950s?
A10)        1953.

Here’s a thought …
“Comedy is tragedy that happens to other people.”
From Wise Children, by Angela Carter, May 7, 1940 – February 16, 1992.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Glad to hear that’s working, Debbi!

Q1) East Yorkshire

Q2) Being

Q3) the Pope

Q4) England

Q5) Neville Chamberlain
I've read some of the comments about the Coronation but got home quite late yesterday and was trying to catch up on other things. Yesterday it was a long and tiring day, but quite entertaining. We did a live radio programme all day (or almost), interviewed lots of people from the local associations and organisations, we interviewed as well the Mayor of Barcelona (Ada Colau) and two other candidates to mayor in the 28th of May local elections (well, we interviewed 5 of them, but two were interviewed by the sports-team, as they were doing their programme live as well. The three members of the team are journalists and journalist students, so not only interested in sports. I much prefer the interviews to the local associations, but it was interesting. And my cousin and his daughter came for a meal, and that wasn't bad either. So, busy but not bad. When they publish the item with photos, I'll send you a link.
