It’s Monday morning, and I’m up early: to go to my weight management class.
Provisionally … ?
I think I’ve lost something.
But here’s hoping.
At any rate … ?
When you want to get out early … ?
That’s not the time for YouTube to play Silly Buggers!

Moving on, briefly: and with an awareness of the time?
I’m out of work: and claiming benefits.
So?
Take an interest in news about the benefits system.
Including anything about a proposed Basic Income system.
It is — so you know — an benefit that’s not means tested, and at a level guaranteed to keep people above the poverty level.
It sounds good: but I’ve always felt that some of the schemes proposed are … possibly impractical.
At any rate … ?
According to a BBC report? It seems that a think tank called Autonomy are to run a small scale — very small scale, some thirty people big — pilot: and are seeking financial backing for it.
The BBC’s piece give very little in further detail: beyond the fact the scheme is supposed to pay some £1, 600 a month.
An amount that I’d find useable.
Quite what the practicalities of the scheme would be?
After all, there’s extra funds available to those of us on Universal Credit, and not on others: and if we’re on UC, we can claim free prescriptions, and various forms of medical treatment.
Whether those thirty people could claim those, is a whole other matter.
Either way?
I can only hope this project gets the backing it needs: and can produce useful results.

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring four out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
* 15, I think, Olga: apparently, Schofield visited the drama school the person was at.
You know, I’ve still got a pile of VHS tapes in my airing cupboard: and, yes, I’ve got no VHS machine, either. I’ve seen those TV/VHS combinations: they’re very rare, these days. One former neighbour had a VHS/DVD combinations: one that could record to DVD, as well. They spent a fortune on blank DVDs, transferring films from old tapes.
† Hello, Mum!
‡ Yep: an ironic symbol, Debbi. Why it was ironic, I don’t know. Penny farthings always struck me as mildly sarcastic …
That he could! Remember “The Chimes of Big Ben”? The scene where 6 and Nadia are talking outside his place? The director really wanted Him to give her a peck on the cheek: but McGoohan wasn’t having it. He was a fairly devout Catholic.
Q5) ice hockey Good luck with the weight loss session, Paul. Here, today is a bank holiday. I have read that if the basic income payment came in, that would mean the end of all the rest of the standard benefits (I imagine it would have to be different for people with specific needs of treatment or transport, but have no idea). I think the thought behind it, as well, is that they could get rid of much of the staff checking benefits and dealing with the paperwork, etc., as it would be universal, so there would be a saving there. I am not sure it would work out from the money saving point of view, but it would be nice, I agree.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

I would recheck yesterdays answers. I do not think everyone got 5 out of 5.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have double checked, there, Trevor: both Olga and Mum got q1 wrong, putting 1976, instead of 1977.
ReplyDeleteDebbi got q4 wrong: putting digital, instead of analogue.
You can double check here answers: here
