You’ve possibly worked out I’ve got a new Mac mini: the base line model.
Frankly?
I’m grateful for it, and to everyone whose helped me buy it.
Whilst I’m aware of its limitations?
I’m also aware it’s running macOSSonoma: with all the subtle differences from its predecessor, Ventura, the OS I’m more familiar with, that that implies.
So, I’m getting used to things, still.
I do know I managed to record some footage for the video versions of upcoming Teasers: and noticed that there was an extra icon in the Menu Bar, when I had QuickTime set to record.
Of a camera.
It turns out the icon has a group of dropdown settings, for recording with QuickTime: including what it calls a ‘Voice Isolation’ mode.
A hum reduction setting, in other words.
I don’t know how much use it will be: nor how well it would show up.
* Oh, those design elements, Olga! Gotcha! Yeah, handing those out for free, would make sense. Some of the courses can be quite pricey: so giving away resources would make sense.
I think I’ve got the voice sorted out: it seems there’s more than one setting that changes the system voice! I wish Apple would re-introduce the older Preferences panel: that was a lot more efficient!
Either way: yes, an M3§ chip would be nice. But those are limited to just a couple of models, the new — and pricey — iMac and MacBook Pro. I wouldn’t mind one of those: but I think I’d need to win the lottery to get them!
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I’m saying nothing, Debbi! 🤣
§ It seems, Olga that the M3 is the only current Apple chip to support the AV1 video codec. That could cause me issues, later, but we’ll have to see.
Q5) China Yes, I read they might be launching a mini with M3 some time in 2024, so it might not be that long to go. The idea with newer versions and settings is that they should be more user friendly, but that doesn't seem to be always the case. I can tell you that the new settings on Wordpress don't have many fans, but they keep on making changes regardless. The issue might well be that we follow people with similar outlook and experiences (at a certain level at least), and we don't read or see the people they ask and who are very keen on the changes. On the other hand, it might also be that they implement changes because they are to be seen as doing something... I'm sure you'll find settings you like. It's a matter of trial and error.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
