Q2)President Nixon appeared on TV: on 23rd January, 1973. To announce what: his resignation, a Vietnam War peace deal, or the collapse of the US dollar?
* Cheers, Olga: I managed to get some of Sainsbury’s Fruit and Fibre. That’s one of my five-a-day, done!
† Hello, Mum!
‡ There is? I’ll have to keep my eyes open, Debbi!
Talking about Macs, again … ? Radio 4’s Today programme had a thing about the launch of the Mac, today: at about the two and a half hour mark. The piece they played, the Steve Jobs piece? Was from a 1984 conference. But he introduced it at a 1983 conference! You know, the BBC used to do research!
§(I couldn’t ignore someone called ‘Haddock’. It’s like being a pub quiz master … and ignoring EmersonBoozer. There’s also a politician called YoungBoozer. Who’d have PR problems in the UK.)
Q5) Finally … ? Marilyn Monroe divorced her third husband: on 24th January, 1961. Who was her third husband? Arthur Miller. I studied Arthur Miller’s plays at university, and he wrote one with a character based on Marilyn, After the Fall. It isn’t his best (by far), but it is interesting. I hope you are happy with the haircut.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
