Pay day, in other words.

Brentwood Council are useless!
I’m due to start paying my council tax, today.
On previous years bills?
There’s been a bar code: that the shop you pay the bill at, scans to send the money to the right place.
This year’s bills? Sent to me on line?
Has a section — at the bottom of the bill — that says “Scan for Payment”.
And no bar-code.
How I’m supposed to pay that … ?
I don’t know.

Debbi got nine: as she got q9 wrong: mixing up Brazil — the defending champions — with of England, the tournament’s winner. (Brazil were the holders at the tournament: having won in ’62.)
Mum actually got eight: putting 1983 for q1, instead of 1966, and ‘blackmail letter’ for q7, rather than — as Olga and Debbi put — ‘ransom demand.’

I hope you get to watch it. Oh, just to let you know. A friend from Portugal and her family are arriving in Barcelona on Sunday and will leave on Wednesday evening. Tbey're staying at an apartment (we don't have the space here, and her husband had lived in Barcelona a few years back), but we're likely to meet and perhaps do some stuff together if we get a chance, so if I don't turn up at some point in that period, I might be caught up with them, but I'll try and touch base in any case.
You cannot blame Brentwood council for the missing code. All of Brentwoods rate bills are produced and printed by Basildon council. As I pay by direct debit I do not think my bill has a bar code on it.
ReplyDeleteFor my modest 3 bedroom abode I think I pay about 5 times your amount in the 10 payable months.
That is after the 25% single person alloweance.
Oh, I know it goes through Basildon, Trevor: the fact my bill has “Basildon Council” all over the envelop is a but of a clue!

Sounds like someone's dropped the ball in Basildon or Brentwood. I guess. :)
