Sunday 3 March 2024

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 3rd March 2024

3rd March, 2024.

Right … it’s Sunday morning …

And frankly?

I’m expecting it to be quiet!

Because … ?

Well, it’s Sunday, after all.

And the messaging from Facebook Market Place has gone quiet!

Hmmm …

We’ll have to see what happens, there!

~≈Î≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        3rd March is World Wildlife Day.   According to whom: the European Union, the United Nations or the Commonwealth of Nations?

Q2)        The Ottoman Empire dissolved: on 3rd March, 1924.   Who was its last ruler: Mehmed 5th, Mehmed 6th or Abdulmejid 2nd?

Q3)        The US Senate passed the law that saw the USA adopt its national anthem: on 3rd March, 1931.     What is that anthem?

Q4)        The Apollo 9 mission launched on 3rd March, 1969.   It’s mission was to test what: the Lunar Lander, the Command Module or the Saturn 5 rocket?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Which console was released on 3rd March, 2017: the Playstation 5, the X Box series X or the Nintendo Switch?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Kherson was captured, at the end of a battle: on 2nd March, 2022.   By whom: Russia, the USA or Romania?
A1)        Russia.

Q2)        Kherson is in which East European country?
A2)        Ukraine.

Q3)        Kherson was liberated by its country’s army on 11th November of which year: 2022, 2023 or 2024?
A3)        2022.

Q4)        The city is the administrative centre of a what: oblast, county or autonomous community?
A4)        An oblast: Kherson Oblast, if we’re curious.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Kherson was flooded, recently.   After the destruction of a what: dam, river or reservoir?
A5)        Dam.

Here’s a thought …

“What scientists are attached to is journeys into the unknown and discovering things that are completely unexpected and baffling and surprising.”
Professor Brian Cox, born 3rd March, 1968.

And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Yeah: if you’ve a lot of South Asian incomers, Cricket will be a big draw, Olga!   It’s like football, here in Europe: absolutely huge, and taken everywhere!   I worked with a few Bangladeshi co-workers, when I was at KFC: keeping an eye on the scores helped!   It’ll probably be a big earner for the city.
And, just as a thought … ?   Does Barcelona have many Australian residents?   As Aussie Rules Football pitches were originally cricket grounds§ … … … … …
I’ve not looked at selling on Ebay: it strikes me that — for just the occasional item — it’s not necessarily worth the while!   And the other reason I insist on the customer picking up … ?   Is they can see it, before they buy it: that way, there’s no arguments about condition.
        You’re not wrong about Elon!

Hello, Mum!   See you, tonight … !

Oh, dear … the Taxman … !   You’ve got my sympathies, there, Debbi:   I’m just grateful I’ve always paid Pay-As-You-Earn!   It’s bagged me a rebate or two, over the years!
Oh, did I mention I’ve got Nina Simone’s version of “Sinnerman” on in the background?   I’ve got Nina Simone’s version of “Sinnerman” on in the background¶ … !   The woman knew what she was doing, with that song.
(Would having music on in the background help with the typing?   Mum always had me practise handwriting to music.)

§        The game still looks like Rugby for ballet dancers, Olga!

¶        Why AM I thinking of Leslie Nielsen, Debbi?

  1. Q1) the United Nations

    Q2) Abdulmejid 2nd

Q3) The Star-Spangled Banner. I knew about his connection with F. Scott Fitzgerald, but not about his somewhat controversial stance on slavery... (Do as I say and not as I do comes to mind here)

    Q4) the Lunar Lander

    Q5) Nintendo Switch
You're probably right about eBay. You have a point about people coming to collect the stuff. My friend used to arrange to deliver at a point mutually convenient, first, because it save her the sending fees (and also, I think, the commission, as long as the person agreed. I'm talking about Vinted, here), and it also avoided them coming to her house and knowing exactly where she lived, I guess, but you must have thought of that. I don't know if she had many people simply not turn, but she didn't complain of that. A bit dodgy, I guess, from the point of view of Vinted, but it must have been more convenient for both, just being sure when and where you can get the thing, rather than waiting for the stuff to be delivered and the risk of not being at home.
    I hope something comes up.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
