† Oh, there’s weirder, Olga! Did anyone mention shin kicking? Or black pudding throwing? Black pudding throwing sounds relatively sedate, compared to shin kicking!
As does Saint Georges Day in Catalonia! But roses and a good read can’t be bad! It’s nice to know David Walliams was about, as well. I’m not a fan: but it sounds like he puts the work in!
I’m assuming ‘Palau’ is the Catalan word for ‘palace’, is that right? It’s funny how palaces seem to get used by whatever form of government is around. (From what I recall? ‘Rathaüs’ is the German word for town hall: from the equally German word for a councillor, ‘rat’. Describing a politician as a rat seems entirely appropriate!)
‡ You’re not wrong, there, Debbi! At any rate … ? I’m glad I could help!
Oh … I’ve had an email in from WeTransfer: it seems that on 6th May, their basic size limit will increase to three gigabytes. But the time it takes to expire will decrease! Did you and Rick ever hear the phrase “swings and roundabouts,” while you were here … ?
Q4) the Gallipoli campaign (I distinctly remember the movie. I watched it many years ago and I don’t think I’d ever heard of Gallipoli before that. Wonderful music).
Q5) Cambridgeshire Yes, indeed. Palau is palace. The original building is quite old, but, of course, it was added on over the years. Here you can check some info about it. This is the official website. https://presidencia.gencat.cat/en/ambits_d_actuacio/palau-de-la-generalitat/index.html Over 600 years of history... And good news on the haircut front.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
