26th April, 2024: Landing.
Yay!
It’s officially Friday!
Which means … not a lot, actually.
Bar finishing my reviews of last night’s episode of Star Trek Discovery.
That?
Was an interesting episode.
Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with every scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

The Cape is in what’s now which US state?Q2) The Cape is named after the eldest son of which English king?Q3) The branch of the company concerned was from which city: London, Plymouth or Chatham?Q4) Later that year, the colonists set up a settlement now called what: Jamestown, Charleston or Henryville?Q5) Finally … ? The company was named for the coastal area it meant to settle. That coastal area was named for whom: Elizabeth 1st, Elizabeth 2nd or Victoria?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Here’s a thought …
“The [ … ] Company made landfall on 26 April 1607, at the southern edge of the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, which they named Cape Henry, near present-day Virginia Beach.”From the Wikipedia entry on the company.
And a song …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* I’ve not seen the movie, Olga. But, from the little I know? The campaign was seen as a victory for the Ottomans … as a publicity disaster for Churchill.
Blimey! That’s a lot of history, Olga! There’s one of two buildings in town that are older: but not by much! I’ve bookmarked the video for later, so you know!
I’ve got to confess, though … that cloister looks familiar: it’s the columns! (If Amelia Folch turns up, I’m running!)
† Hello, Mum!
‡ Yeah, Radio Four can be handy at times, Debbi! I’ve STILL got an episode of Just a Minute to listen too!
Oh, about Cambridgeshire …

Yes, plenty of history. We have bits of the Roman walls and some bits of old churches around, but it is difficult not to build something, start digging, and find some remains of buildings (or even people) all around. I guess people have lived here for a long time, in one shape or other.
Tomorrow my cousin is coming and we're going out for a meal, to celebrate my mother's birthday (as we were busy last weekend) and mine, that is coming up soon as well, but I hope to catch up with the teaser in the morning before he arrives. If I don't make it, because we end up running late, do not fret.
Take care. (Oh, and I do recommend Gallipoli if you have the time at some point. Mel Gibson was more understated then, thankfully).
Thanks, Paul! I thought that might be the case.
