Q6)Saskatchewan is to Alberta’s east, the Northwest territory to the north and British Columbia to the west. Which US state is to Alberta’s immediate south?
Q7)Which Alberta born singer released a 1992 album called Ingénue?
A7)k d lang. That is one hell of an LP: and very well worth a listen.
Q8)Chuckwagon racing is popular in Alberta. A chuckwagon is a mobile, horse-drawn what: toilet, kitchen or bath?
A8)Kitchen. (I’d guess the nearest UK equivalent would be harness racing or carriage racing. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard it called ‘trap racing’, as well.)
Q9)Canola is made in Alberta. It’s a vegetable oil made from what: turnips, rapeseed or peanuts?
“The Department of the Treasury (USDT) is the national treasury and finance department of the federal government of the United States, where it serves as an executive department.”
† It’s nice to have you back on board, Olga: and I’m glad the festival went well! Was there a literary theme to the photos you showed me, a few days ago? There were a few Harry Potter and Dragonball characters.
Either way … ? Good luck with the tests: it’s going to be needed, I suspect.
‡ I’m glad to hear it, Debbi! Which reminds me, I need to tidy my front room up: there’s a bit of a mess!
Oh, I’ve no more ten-question sets planned for September: although it was tempting to do one for the late David McCallum: he got five, though. (I might in October or November: there’s one figure I’m tempted by.)
Q5) banks Each street could choose any topics they liked. The ones that chose bola de drac (Dragon Ball) were celebrating their 40th anniversary decorating the street, and as the series had also celebrated 40 year and the creator had died recently, they thought it would be a nice topic to cover. The ones that chose Harry Potter had some nasty comments because of JK Rowling (and I think the figure of the writer was stolen as well and some damage done, although they weren't the only ones to suffer that), although they said they were not aware of the controversy. There is a federation that coordinates everything and representatives of all the streets meet, to try to make sure that they don't all do the same...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
