Saturday 26 October 2024

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th October, 2024.

26th October, 2024.

It’s officially officially: it’s now Saturday.

Which means that — if you’re in the UK? — that the clocks go back, overnight.

Most of mine will reset, automatically: but there’s a couple I’ll have to do manually.

Heigh ho!

~≈🕰️≈~

My nephew, Jude, was over, yesterday: has had to confess, he’s not looking forward to a hair cut, today!

But was interested in my new sofa*, and thoroughly enjoy making a new video.

If you can head over to YouTube, hit the like button, and share the thing?

That’ll probably help boost his morale!

Oh, just as a last thought … ?

Going by a piece I’ve just seen on the BBC’s website, there’s a man who’s made a novelty Halloween costume … out of Yorkshire puddings.

Yorkshire puddings … !

Normally?

I’d roll my eyes, heavenward, and say “Only in America”, except this … was in Southend … !

Heigh, bloody, ho!

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum†, Olga‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        26th October is Angam Day.   Where: Nauru, Vanuatu or Indonesia?

Q2)        Seth McFarlane was born on 26th October, 1973.   He voices Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, Glenn Quagmire and many other characters: in which animated show?

Q3)        Cricketer, Ronnie Irani, was born on 26th October, 1971.   What — when he finished his domestic career in 2007 — was the last county side he played for?

Q4)        The Royal Charter was wrecked on 26th October, 1859.   Off the coast of where: Anglesey, Bristol or Troon?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Football Association was founded on 26th October, 1863.   It’s the governing body of Association Football, where: England, Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        25th October is the Feast Day of Nestorius.   He was born in what’s now where: Egypt, Turkey or Iran?
A1)        Turkey.   (He, apparently, taught that Christ’s divine and human nature were two separate beings in one body.   Which is nice … … … )

Q2)        Newhart first aired on 25th October, 1982.   Who played Dick Loudon in Newhart ?
A2)        The late, great, Bob Newhart.   Here’s a video or two.

Q3)        25th October is Thanksgiving Day.   Where: Grenada, the US or South Africa?
A3)        Grenada.   (It celebrates the day the island was invaded by the US … … )

Q4)        25th October is Retrocession Day.   Where: Indonesia, Taiwan or New Zealand?
A4)        Taiwan.

Q5)        Finally … ?   25th October, 2024, is Nevada Day in Nevada.   It celebrate’s Nevada joining what: the USA, the EU or NATO?
A5)        The USA.
Here’s a thought …
“It’s funny, going in a pub now and there’s no smoke.   It may be healthier but it doesn’t feel right.   Even the beer tastes different.”
Bob Hoskins, 26 October 1942 – 29 April 2014.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Apparently, it’s a little too hard: but an ok height.   Everyone’s a critic!

        Hello, Mum!

I don’t know if Graham enjoyed it, Olga: but he does have a knack for it!   I MAY have to wave beer at him, if I need something else doing!
It sounds like your father and I have something in common: I’m terribly impatient!   But that furniture assembling service sounds very handy: I don’t think many places offer it, here.
I know what you mean about translations, as well: the ones I see are usually on Chinese menus: apparently, the item in the picture was supposed to say “Deep Fried Pork Intestine”.   I’m going vegan!

§        I’ll stay tactfully quiet, Debbi!   :D
Did I mention my Mac mini can do 4k movies?   My Mac mini can do 4k movies!   (Although it has taken an expensive web cam!)

Wow! Explode the small intestine! I don't think doctors would recommend that... Fabulous! I was surprised because I had asked for a tablecloth from Amazon Vine, and I'm used to everything being Chinese, but this one was actually Spanish! Very nice too.

I had no idea Yorkshire pudding was/were popovers!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
