Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello, Mum!
† That’s something I’ve noticed over the years, Olga: celebrity-owned stuff — shoes, suitcases, what-have-you — tend to fetch a premium. They usually have to have some sort of documented history though. (Guitars played by Pete Townsend are usually worth more if he’s wrecked them.)
Sorry about the score, by the way: but horns and trumpets are quite different. The bore, the empty column of air that’s in the things, is a different shape.
Oh, I know ‘new’ ivory sales are banned: but I believe there’s still illegal sales happening. How you stop those, I don’t know: but I imagine new pieces can be traced by DNA.
‡ Good morning, Irene: welcome back!
§ The handy thing, Debbi, is that you can (mostly) read the Discworld novels in any order you want: although it helps if you read the Witches, or Nightwatch, ones in some sort of order. (I’m almost at the end of Night Watch, so you know!)
I read the Narnia books when I was younger: almost obsessively! The Magician’s Nephew was a favourite: the series got a bit apocalyptic by The Silver Chair.
Did you know Lewis was an old friend of Tolkien? The pair famously disagreed about religion: Lewis was an Belfast-born Anglican, Tolkien a devout Catholic: I think his faith shows up in The Silmarillion, if I’ve understood how the Catholic view of saints and angels works.
Q4) Machine Gun Kelly Oh, don't worry about the horn thing. I saw it somewhere in the article about him and never checked any more. These days I always seem to be running around, although I don't seem to achieve too much. Tomorrow afternoon I'm attending a session for carers, but this one is a bit different. I'll see if I learn something useful. And I got a calle from the social services based at the doctor's surgery, and she suggested I ask for a revision of my mother's grade of dependency. She said it is always worth doing, because it might mean, if they increase it, that she would be eligible for more services. I hope you hear from the food bank and everything else soon. The prices of everything keep going up and it is difficult to make the money last there days...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

ReplyDeleteThe Narnia books really got into the whole Bibical thing, as I recall. :)
Of course, both series pit good against evil. In fantasy.
