Which reminds me … it seems that AWS, Amazon’s cloud service, seems to be back online after an outage.

An outage that affected quite a lot of banks.

Including, I believe, mine: or, at least, it affected my bank’s owners.

It seems to be back online, now.

But this sort of thing is a worry.

Hopefully, one I won’t be affected by.

I’d hate to see my money get in late!

*        That trunk’s how much … ?   Olga, that’s about £82, 000!   For a suitcase!   The old Intel MacPro tower only cost £55, 000/€63, 000, at the most!   Bloody hell!   Give me five minutes to peel myself off the ceiling, please, Olga!

        At any rate … ?   I’ve just looked at the Louis Vuitton site: I see what you mean about having to phone them for a quote: the various categories all had — and only had — a ‘Create a Unique’ piece option.   There’s an old saying I’m reminded of: “If you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it.”   That seems very applicable§ … 

        I can remember some of the discussions we had at college, back in the day.   There were quite a few anti-fur people who were against buying them: and a lot of pro-fur folk generally felt buying a new coat was only acceptable if you bought an ethically sourced one.   But there was also a lot of discussion about inheriting one: the anti-fur crowd had a mix of opinions, the pro crowd had no problems.   (I got the impression that — properly treated — fur coats could last a few generations: we’re back to Sam Vimes’ boots, there.)
