Q4)23rd December, 1925, saw the birth of publisher, Rayner Unwin. He worked for his father, George Unwin, as a children’s book reviewer: which of Tolkien’s books did the review?
“We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”
* Yeah: Anya’s name IS a bit of a gobful, Olga, isn’t it? I saw her in The Witch: she gives a competent performance. She was in her early twenties, in that: and looks about ten! I swear, leading actresses look younger, every year. Hang on, the wi-fi? Are you getting router issues? Mine has this bad habit of restarting: when I would rather it didn’t. Usually in the middle of doing something. And, yes: I knew there was Messenger issues. At least one friend had the same issues. (Oh, mentioning The Witch reminded me of Midsommar. Definitely worth a watch, Midsommar.)
† A pleasure, as ever, Debbi! (Yeah, Rayner started early. His father, Stanley Unwin, ran George Allen and Unwin, The Hobbit’s publisher. I got the impression Stanley thought that, if you’re going to review a children’s book, you should ask a child to do it. Saying that? Jude’s eight: I don’t think he’d sit still long enough to read a book!)
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

What a shame for Jude. He might enjoy the right book. :)
