* In theory, Olga‡? I’ve earned just over thirty pound: and was on my way to reaching the £60 minimum payment. I think what’s caused the problem? Is the fact I’d built up a lot of movie clips — ones I used in reviews on here — that could count as reused content. The definition from Youtube’s help page?
“This is content that doesn’t provide significant original commentary, or educational value. It may also mean that we’ve identified that large portions of your channel either completely match other content, or are noticeably similar. Examples include:
Third-party videos stitched together with minimal to no changes
Third-party content compiled without a narrative
Content uploaded somewhere else first.
Content uploaded many times by multiple users.”
With the “Third-party content compiled without a narrative,” line being the one that caught me. I’ve deleted everything that had a copyright on content claim against it, Olga: we’re going to have to see what happens on the 21st February. The deletion doesn’t leave me much in the way of watch hours.
† I have looked at the ebooks idea, Debbi. But — to be frank — there’s way too much completion out there. And a lot of Facebook groups similar to one I’m in: that lets quizmasters swap question sets. As for The channel? I’ve deleted a lot of the videos that I think are causing issues. Mostly ones that went in older film review posts. It’s only since getting the iMac — complete with an on-board webcam — that’s let me do the ‘proper’ video reviews: and yeah … the Dr Who ones are getting viewed. I’m hoping they’ll build up the viewing hours!
‡ YouTube’s got two types of copyright strike. The first is a Copyright claim: where you have to take down the video, they have to take down the video … or it gets blocked. Then there’s a content claim. Where Youtube keeps the video up … but gives the ad revenue to the original owners. I didn’t mind the latter: as at least it means those clips stay on the relevant post on the blog. But …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
