Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-2-2020: Burns Night

25th January 2020.

I have to admit, I am seriously annoyed at YouTube.

Really annoyed.

As you may know, I had been accepted onto YouTube’s Partnership programme.

In other words?

I could earn money from advertising revenue.

Until yesterday … when YouTube decided they would take me off the programme.

NOT something I’m happy about, understandably.

The reason they’ve done it … ?   Is that I have to much ‘Reused content.’

Quite what that means … ?

I’m not TOO sure: but apparently ‘ … it may also mean that we’ve identified that large portions of your channel either completely match other content, or are noticeably similar.’

It means — as far as I can tell — that I’ve a lot of culling to do, before I reapply in late February.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Robert Burns was born on the 25th January of which year?
Q2) Cutty Sark gets a mention in Burns poem, Tam o’Shanter.   The ship named for the character is moored where: Greenwich, Hastings or Sandwich?
Q3) Doctor Who episode, Tooth and Claw, sees Billie Piper described a ‘wee, timorous beastie.’   The quote is from which Burns poem?
Q4) Which Burns song is traditionally sung at Hogmanay?
Q5) Finally … ?   Bob Dylan cited which Burns poem as a major lyrical influence on his work?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The Atocha Massacre took place: on 24th January, 1977.   In which Spanish city?
A1) Madrid.
Q2) 24th January is the feast day of Saint Felician of Foligno.   Foligno is in which European country?
A2) Italy.
Q3) The 20th Amendment to the US Constitution was passed: on 24th January, 1933.   It defined the length of of what: elected federal office, unelected federal office, or state governor’s office?
Q4) 24th January, AD76, saw the birth of Emperor Hadrian.   Who succeeded him as Emperor?
Q5) Finally?   24th January, 1946, saw the birth of Canadian actor, Michael Ontkean.   In which series did he play Sheriff Harry S. Truman?
A5) Twin Peaks.   (Every good sheriff needs a llama.)
Here’s a thought …
“Man’s inhumanity to man
Makes countless thousands mourn.”
Man was Made to Mourn, Robert Burns.
And a piece about puddings …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Sounds like Spain’s got a possible flooding issue, there, Olga: I can only hope things dry up, fast.   As for the history series … ?   What can I tell you, Olga: except they’re wonderful to watch!

How annoying about YouTube! It's impossible to know what they mean when they just quote chunks of regulations that might mean anything. Is it because of clips used, because you reuse questions, or even because the content of the teasers is the same as in your own blog... Evidently, if you were copying somebody else, they'd remove the videos, so it must be your own content... A puzzlement. Did you manage to get any money at all?
One of my friend Iman's work colleagues (she lives and works at a hospital in Paris) did quite well with YouTube videos for a while. She did handcraft videos (I don't know if you recall those bracelets made of tiny coloured rubber bands..., well those) and it seems she had thousands of followers for a while (she didn't speak, she just showed the technique, so language wasn't a problem), but it seems it fell out of fashion and that was that. Perhaps you need a cat or a dog ;)
By the way, have you heard from Debbi? She was probably busy, but as she normally comments...

Hi! Sorry I missed yesterday's teaser. And sorry to hear about YouTube.

Instead of relying YouTube for income, I'd suggest taking your teasers and compiling them into various ebooks.

I thought your Doctor Who review was spot on!

You could become a Doctor Who YouTuber, too! That sounds fun! Your reviews are original content. And there's a huge fanbase out there!
