Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4th October, 2022.

4th October, 2022.

Yes: it’s officially official.

I can play you this tune: with a certain amount of irony …

Yes, I now have new glasses … and can make a spectacle of myself …

~≈😎≈~

You’re possibly aware — especially if you’ve seen me mentioning it — that those of us on UK benefits have received what the Government called a Cost Of Living Payment.

A payment totalling some one thousand pounds: £400 is due to come off our electricity bills over October 2022 to March, 2023.

And most of us received the first payment — of £326 — in July.

None of us knew when the next payment would be: beyond being told it would be ‘… in the Autumn.’

That changed, yesterday.

With the announcement that the second payment would arrive in bank accounts: between the 8th and 23rd of November of this year.

Frankly?

I’m glad to get the news of a potential date.

But will be happier when the money turns up.

Quite a lot of it will be going on my meters.

Especially given that the unelected, Truss-led Government is — effectively — planning real term benefits cuts.

Frankly?

Whenever the next general election is, I’m blowed if I’m voting for this prime minister’s party.

“America is a country that makes you want things, but doesn't give you the means to get those things.”
H. Rap Brown, born October 4, 1943.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Talking Jude into toppings on pizza would be a start, Olga!   He’s been on Margheritas for years! We’re going to have to see!
Ben-Hur’s still a movie I need to watch, Olga: I might have to see what I can do.   I do know the Wikipedia entry’s an interesting read.   It seems there were things the director wasn’t telling Charlton Heston^.   I’ll have to see what happens with the next movie I see: Hellraiser and Strickland’s Flux Gourmet sound interesting.
(Remind me to tell you about my chillis: you should be able to replace the animal based products with their vegetarian equivalents.   And I tend to keep latex gloves around.   The last chilli I did had eleven red eye chilli peppers and two scotch bonnets.   Raw … )

        Hello, Mum!

I’m definitely having a moment of clarity, Debbi.   I just wish I could’ve afforded the low glare lenses: my eyes look shiny in today’s introduction!
Oh, how’s the new external drive working out?   And, talking of tech?   There’s robot taxis in San Francisco.   The future’s still not evenly distributed, it’s just in California!

^        I get the impression Charlton was a touch conservative.   He was definitely Republican, and a gun rights supporter.

Fingers crossed on the pizza topings' front with Jude. I do love spicy food (and your advice on gloves is right. Some people use goggles, and I think with some of the chilies it is required. I sometimes watched an American programme about a guy (well two different guys, but as they mixed the seasons and dubbed them here, I can never remember what the actual title was) who went around the USA visiting restaurants and doing food challenges. And although many of them were about eating huge amounts of food (mostly meat, so it was a bizarre programme for me to watch, but it was so extreme...), but some of them were about eating spicy foods and wow!
Yes, I know about Charlton Heston's politics. My parents were quite partial to him (I think my mother still likes him), but his NRA stance and his views are not to my liking. Although I've always been envious of his library. Many years back I remember an article where he had opened his mansion to a reporter, and they took a picture of his huge library, and he was telling them how much he loved books and how many he had, and they asked him what would he do when he didn't have enough space for his books and he told them he would buy a bigger house. Nowadays, with electronic books, is not an issue, but at the time, I wished I could say the same.
Good news and I'm happy you can see clearly now (nice song!)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
