“Monsters exist, but they are too few in number to be truly dangerous; more dangerous are the common men, the functionaries ready to believe and to act without asking questions.”
Primo Levi, 31 July 1919 – 11 April 1987.
And a song …
“Me and You and a dog named Boo” seems appropriate: after a quote about monsters.
* That’s a good thought, Olga. It’s also the reason that CeX have stayed in business: they buy in second hand computers, refurbish them, and sell them on as new. They make a fortune as they don’t have to pay VAT on the stuff they sell.
(Oh, we’ve got rain: want me to send some over … ?)
† Hello, Mum!
‡ Yep, that’s the episode, Debbi! The canned laughter’s distinctly unpleasant!
Q5) chemist Thanks for the offer of rain. We sure need it! At least it's cloudy now, and there is some rain forecast for tomorrow. Jordi had a change of schedule so we'll do a class tomorrow. I've decided to walk to his place (I normally walk on the way back and take the bus there, but it is too hot by the time I finish the class these days), so it would be good if it rained before or after I get there, although, I'll take whatever. I hope the weight management session goes well. The quote from Primo Levy made me think of Hannah Arendt and her comment about "the banality of evil". They are so right...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
