Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-9-2024 — David McCullum

25th September, 2024: David McCullum.

Hmmm …

Every so often, I’ll order something from Amazon.

Usually on payday: and usually for stuff that’s both cheap, and very useful.

One of the most recent ones?

Was supposed to be delivered by a third party delivery firm called Evri, yesterday.

By ten pm.

It hasn’t.

It’s been delayed: and will now be delivered by the 26th, at the earliest.

I had to pay extra for that delivery.

So, understandably?

I’m not happy.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Mum† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring four out of five, and Mum on one.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        25th September, 2023, saw the death of actor, David McCallum.   Who did he play in TV series, Sapphire and Steel?

Q2)        Which actress starred with him, in Sapphire and Steel?

Q3)        He played Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard in which US series: NCIS, CSI: Miami or Kolchak: The Night Stalker?

Q4)        In which series did McCallum play Ilya Kuryakin?

Q5)        Finally … ?   McCallum played Simon Carter in Colditz.   The real world castle the series was based on, was a WW2-era German what: prisoner-of-war camp, concentration camp, or slave labour camp?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The first US, nuclear powered ship of its kind, was launched on 24th September. Of which year of the 1960s?
A1)        1960.

Q2)        What was the ship called: the USS Enterprise, USS Constitution or the USS Defiant?
A2)        The USS Enterprise.

Q3)        What type of ship was the ship: a submarine, an aircraft carrier or a cruiser?
A3)        An aircraft carrier.

Q4)        The US Navy is planning to launch a replacement ship with the same name.   In which year: 2025, 2027 or 2029?
A4)        2025.

Q5)        Finally … ? The ship was decommissioned in which year: 2015, 2017 or 2019?
A5)        2017.
Here’s a thought …
“But so far as countries are concerned, I don’t go to a place to see what’s there, but who is there.”
David McCallum.
An interview …

And some Eno …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Apparently, Olga, the replacement’s going to be launched in 2025: and commissioned in 2029.   I wish I knew what the difference was!
Cheers for the photos, Olga.   What made me smile was seeing a name I recognised!   And a cheesy pun: Borders without Frontiers.   Dearie, dearie me!   :D

†        Hello, Mum!

Yes, I thought the same, (about Borders sin fronteras), but I guess it shows people know their english, because Borders doesn't have the same meaning in Spanish (or Catalan), so it is an interesting one. I loved the T-shirt that said (translated) "My favourite person barks at me" from Locas por las huellas (that would be "Mad about footprints". They do everything themselves and give the money from their craft sales to different animal projects).

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
