24th September, 2024: the Ship.
Right then …
It’s Tuesday: you’ve possibly already figured that out.
And, yes: I’m up early, again.
For an opticians appointment.
I can only hope there’s nothing too serious going on …
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) The first US, nuclear powered, ship of its kind was launched on 24th September. Of which year of the 1960s?Q2) What was the ship called: the USS Enterprise, USS Constitution or the USS Defiant?Q3) What type of ship was the ship: a submarine, an aircraft carrier or a cruiser?Q4) The US Navy is planning to launch a replacement ship with the same name. In which year: 2025, 2027 or 2029?Q5) Finally … ? The ship was decommissioned in which year: 2015, 2017 or 2019?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Here’s a thought …
“[The ship] was, at the time of inactivation, the third-oldest commissioned vessel in the United States Navy after the wooden-hulled USS Constitution and USS Pueblo.”From the Wikipedia article on the ship.
A song …
And a catchy jingle¶ …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* It’s an idea, I think, Olga. I’m assuming you knew pig’s ears are seen as dog treats, here? I’ve seen them called knick-knacks in some markets. Quite why that sticks in the mind, I don’t know …
As for Bobby … ? I think he has a foot fetish: he’s attacked mine a few times. I think he thinks they’re mice: we may have to ask Debbi what her cats do.
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I know exactly what you mean, Debbi. I’ve worked with various younger people: who’ve never heard of the Pistols, or Kate Bush, or whoever. And usually come away mildly stunned! At any rate, I’de never heard of the speech, either: but noticed it as it shares its name with the Prime Minister’s official country house.
Yes: I’d noticed the idea behind Bodies: I’ll have to see if I can find a copy!
Oh … did I mention Bobby the Cat? The cat my sister, and Jude, own? Did I mention he has a thing about pouncing on feet? He has a thing about pouncing on feet. (Do any of yours do that … ?)
¶ I’m glad Instagram threw Maria Palmer’s channel at me. The jingle’s catchy: and she has one hell of a radio voice!
