Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-9-2024 — The US Treasury

2nd September, 2024: the US Treasury Department.

It’s Monday!

Or a Monday.

And … ?

I’m up early.

Yes: I’m off to me weight management class, today.

Hopefully, I’ll’ve lost weight.

~≈⚖️≈~

I mentioned, a few days ago, that a certain relative fancied a new phone for Christmas/birthday.

A rather expensive one!

Hopefully?

The family will be able to sort out something!

Even if it’s just a Barbie phone … !

~≈📞≈~

Right at the moment?

I’ve got the Flying Pickets version of “Only You” on, at the moment.

The irony of the thing isn’t lost on me.

It was — at one point — Margaret Thatcher’s favourite song.

By contrast, the band … ?

Raised a lot of cash, playing left wing benefit gigs.

I don’t think anyone mentioned it to Maggie!

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Mum on eight.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The US Department of the Treasury was founded on the 2nd September.   Of which year of the 1780s?

Q2)        The Department is headquartered, where: Washington DC, New York City or Chicago?

Q3)        The Department runs the two bodies that make US currency.   One is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.   What’s the other?

Q4)        The Department runs the US federal tax department, the IRS.   The IRS is the Internal Revenue … what?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Department supervises American what: museums, banks or schools?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A7)        k d lang.   That is one hell of an LP: and very well worth a listen.

Q8)        Chuckwagon racing is popular in Alberta.   A chuckwagon is a mobile, horse-drawn what: toilet, kitchen or bath?
A8)        Kitchen.   (I’d guess the nearest UK equivalent would be harness racing or carriage racing.   I’m pretty sure I’ve heard it called ‘trap racing’, as well.)

Here’s a quote …
“The Department of the Treasury (USDT) is the national treasury and finance department of the federal government of the United States, where it serves as an executive department.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the Dept.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   Thank you for dinner, yesterday!

†        It’s nice to have you back on board, Olga: and I’m glad the festival went well!   Was there a literary theme to the photos you showed me, a few days ago?   There were a few Harry Potter and Dragonball characters.
Either way … ?   Good luck with the tests: it’s going to be needed, I suspect.

I’m glad to hear it, Debbi!   Which reminds me, I need to tidy my front room up: there’s a bit of a mess!
Oh, I’ve no more ten-question sets planned for September: although it was tempting to do one for the late David McCallum: he got five, though.   (I might in October or November: there’s one figure I’m tempted by.)

Each street could choose any topics they liked. The ones that chose bola de drac (Dragon Ball) were celebrating their 40th anniversary decorating the street, and as the series had also celebrated 40 year and the creator had died recently, they thought it would be a nice topic to cover. The ones that chose Harry Potter had some nasty comments because of JK Rowling (and I think the figure of the writer was stolen as well and some damage done, although they weren't the only ones to suffer that), although they said they were not aware of the controversy.
There is a federation that coordinates everything and representatives of all the streets meet, to try to make sure that they don't all do the same...
