* La Belle certainly had a long life, Olga. She was 96 when she died: that}s a very good innings!
I don’t know if the UK’s royals do anything similar: donate to organisations like the Red Cross, that is. I suspect that they — and the Spanish royals — have some sort of foundation that does these things on their behalf: and that they don’t advertise. That’s a shame, that publicity could be useful for them in times like these.
Q5) the State Opening of Parliament Definitely the donation of King Mother, Sophia, was one the newspapers, although she donates through an ONG she created (or at least is the main contributor of). I know King Felipe VI sent some of the royal guard staff to help, although I have no idea what specific training they might have. One of the problems seems to be that a lot of people (I'm not talking about voluntaries, because you have a bit of all there. You have firefighters and emergency workers who've gone there from other communities and also neighbours from nearby unaffected places with no specific training who've turned up in mass) who are supposed to be in charge of emergencies and have no specific training or professional knowledge of things. I guess it's one of the problems of having politicians change roles and be in charge of random things they might have no inclination or understanding of. As we were saying, with Jordi and his wife, emergency plans should be agreed by all political parties, and adhered to, no matter who is in power, because an emergency is not the time to be thinking about things and pondering and hesitating. Everybody needs to know who is in charge and start doing what needs doing.
Today is also the 20th anniversary of my stroke. Fun! :)
1. 1605 2. all of them? Or was it just Robert Catesby you were going for? They were all involved. 3. the House of Lords 4. James 6th of Scotland and 1st of England 5. the State Opening of Parliament
Pray that the right candidate wins! I mean, not "the right" candidate. lol Not the "American Tories". :) Or the Nazis, either.
Don't mind me. I had a stroke, so ... :) It's only been 20 years. Cheers!
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
