Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30th June 2025.

30th June, 2025.

Right … it’s Monday morning.

So … ?

I’ve got to go to the high street, twice!

I’ve got a weight management meeting in the morning, and a hygienist appointment, this afternoon.

Hopefully?

I’ll end up having lost weight, and have cleaner teeth.

Just so everyone knows?

Long time reader, Trevor, is now officially out of hospital: and back at the care home he’s been placed in.

If you want to get in touch … ?

You’ll need to write to him: you can get his address from his sister, Gill.

~≈✉️≈~

There’s been a bit of bother.

You’ll probably have realised that the Glastonbury Festival — Britain’s best known music festival — took place over the weekend.

As one act, Bob Vylan, led chants of “Death to the IDF” during their performance.

I grant you, that’s bad.

But … ?

In calling for various responses, the media is doing something any band loves.

Handing them publicity.

Bands love publicity.

It generates interest, means ticket, and buy records.

So … ?

I have to ask Prime Minister Keir Starmer one thing …

“Why are you giving Bob Vylan, an act that indulges in hate speech, free publicity, Sir Keir?   When I bet you this is the first time most of the country has heard of them.”

I agree, the band’s actions are bad.

But … ?

I suspect the fuss will do their sales a huge favour: just as an earlier fuss handed sales to other bands …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Debbi‡ and Irene§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Here it is, along with the How To, License and video.

And a song …

The next ten question set is on 1st July: it’s about Quebec.

Comments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

Cheers, Olga!   I managed to find the Wikipedia entry on the battle: and can add it to the catalogue!   The battle itself, though … ?   Vaguely reminds me of the Battle of the Milvian Bridge.   Constantine, the eventual winner, is supposed to have seen a vision of a ‘christian symbol’: and got told to paint it on his soldiers shields.   The speculation is that some sort of optical illusion was involved.

Yeah, I saw the film thing go past, Debbi: on Twitter/X/whatever it is, this week!   Good luck with it … !

§        Morning, Irene: enjoy the visit … !

I agree with your comment about the group, Paul. It seems to be the way everywhere, though. Many groups seem to only become known thanks to scandals that have nothing to do with how good or bad they are as performers. (Not that I know how that band sounds, either).
I hope Trevor does well. I don't know if this is a long-term placement or only until he recovers, but sometimes people quite like the setting and decide to stay nonetheless (and, in other cases, that seems to be the only option).
I hope your two appointments today go well. It is very hot, but I also had two outings today (at least). I have been to Jordi's flat for the class, and I have to go to the radio station to edit the news item from Saturday (I went on a historical walk). I hope to be able to go out with my mother after that. It is so hot these days, that it is better to avoid the hottest hours of the day, and, in her case, being quite elderly, that is even more the case.

Hey, I interviewed an author from Scotland today. He not only loves Doctor Who and James Bond, but he's a big Terry Pratchett fan. What a nice chap! :)
