28th March, 2023.
Yes: it’s true.
There’s videos lurking around.
Or, at least, videos of a comedian: American comic, Jessica Kirson, who is utterly filthy, and absolutely hysterical!
Frankly?
My most recent video … ? Is a fine review.
At least, I think so.
I’m just very aware I’m not going to be as funny as a comedian from New Jersey!
Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡, putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Mum on nine.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.
Q1) 28th March, 1945, saw the birth of Rodrigo Duterte. He was the sixteenth president of where: Haiti, the Philippines or Vanuatu? Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q2) 28th March, 1910, saw the birth of Queen Ingrid of Sweden. From 1947, she was Queen of where: Sweden, Denmark or Finland?
Q3) The US State Department released the Acheson–Lilienthal Report: on 28th March, 1946. The Report outlined US proposals for the control of what: nuclear power, drugs or the Internet?
Q4) Which airport began operations on 28th March, 2001: Athens International Airport, Bremen Airport or Cagliari Airport?
Q5) Finally … ? 28th March, 1515, saw the birth of Saint Teresa of Ávila. She was what sort of nun: an Augustinian nun, Benedictine nun or Carmelite nun?
Q1) Quentin Tarantino was born on 27th March. Of which year of the 1960s?Here’s a thought …
A1) 1963.
Q2) What’s his middle name: John, Jane or Jerome?
A2) Jerome.
Q3) His first film, Reservoir Dogs, was released in which year: 1991, 1992 or 1993?
A3) 1992.
Q4) Tarantino’s 1994 film, Pulp Fiction, had Uma Thurman on the poster. Who did Thurman play: Mia Wallace, Fabienne or Honey Bunny?
A4) Mia Wallace. (Fabienne was played by Maria de Meiros. Honey Bunny was played by Amanda Plummer: she’s currently playing Vadic in Star Trek: Picard. And, frankly? Chewing less scenery in the latter!)
Q5) At least five Tarantino movies were distributed by Miramax. Miramax was co-founded by which notorious producer?
A5) Harvey Weinstein. (At least three of Tarantino’s later films were produced by Weinstein’s The Weinstein Company: that company had gone bust in the wake of the #MeToo affair. I notice Weinstein has had nothing to do with Tarantino’s most recent film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: understandable, given the circumstances.)
Q6) 1993’s True Romance was written by Tarantino. Who directed True Romance: Tony Scott, Ridley Scott or Montgomery Scott?
A6) Tony Scott.
Q7) Tarantino directed part of the 1995 film, Four Rooms. Which part: ‘The Missing Ingredient’, ‘The Wrong Man’, ‘The Misbehavers’ or ‘The Man From Hollywood’?
A7) ‘The Man From Hollywood’. (The Dahl short story it’s based on — ‘The Man from the South’ — was turned into an episode of Tales of the Unexpected.)
Q8) Tarantino made Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2: released in 2003 and 2004. Who played the Bride, the main character of the two films?
A8) It’s her, again: Uma Thurman.
Q9) The Kill Bill films weren’t the only two part movies Tarantino was involved with: he directed one of the Grindhouse movies. Which one of the Grindhouse movies?
A9) Death Proof.
Q10) Finally … ? Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight featured one of the last film scores by whom: John Barry, Ennio Morricone or John Williams?
A10) Ennio Morricone. (Kurt Russell famously wrecked a guitar in The Hateful Eight: one that turned out to be a genuine antique Martin guitar. The Martin company, and its museum, no longer loan out guitars!)
“But the truth is, I’m used to shooting people. When we were about to graduate from San Beda, I shot a person.”And a song …
Rodrigo Duterte, born March 28, 1945.
I still don’t know if Snoop Dog and Noel Clarke are floating around in that video: or whether it’s just extras that look like Snoop Dog and Noel Clarke!
The next ten question set will be on 30th March: and is about Vincent Van Gogh.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* I think I’m keeping the effects at bay, Olga: with a lot of strong tea, and the occasional cola. But the sleepiness isn’t pleasant. Especially given I have a CPAP machine that’s very helpful.
If you’ll excuse the pun? I feel like I’m burning the candle at both ends. Sorry, sorry! :)
Hmmm … was it the the same issue of Time Out where they compared Pulp Fiction — or Reservoir Dogs! — with Man Bites Dog? I vaguely remember them covering all three: AND Things to Do In Denver When You’re Dead: out of Things, and Pulp Fiction, I think the former is the better movie! (And Christopher Lloyd put in the performance of a lifetime.)
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I think whiskers is definitely the thing, Debbi! I just hope the ad shows up at your end!

Yes. I remember the comparison to Man Bites Dog as well. I did use Reservoir Dogs as a comparison when I was writing about Mamet's Heist, and it was an entertaining piece of research.
I remember you mentioned the machine.
I will probably be able to join the teaser tomorrow, as I'm not leaving until quite late, but in any case, I'll catch up with all of you in April after Easter (on the 12th or 13th) if I cannot get in touch before.
I've never seen Things to do in Denver When You're Dead. Just never got 'round to it. Guess I should add it to the list. :)
1. the Philippines
2. Denmark
3. nuclear power (or actually, nuclear weapons) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acheson%E2%80%93Lilienthal_Report
4. Athens International Airport
5. Carmelite nun (sounds like a candy!)
May I offer you a Carmelite nun? :)
