Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th March 2023.

29th March, 2023.

Yep!

It’s Wednesday.

And, frankly?

I’m expecting a phone call from my GP: to check on how some pain killers are working.

At any rate … ?

I had my nephew over, yesterday.

You’ll’ve possibly guessed he’s posted a video …

~≈fi≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        29th March, 1849, saw the UK annex where: the Punjab, Mysore or Sind?

Q2)        That region is now split between Northern India, and where: Pakistan or Bangladesh?

Q3)        The Hypnosis Murders took place: on 29th March, 1951.   Where: Aabenraa, Copenhagen or Ebeltoft?

Q4)        29th March is the feast day of Saint Gwynllyw.   He’s the patron saint of whom: pirates, soldiers or sailors?

Q5)        Finally … ?   29th March, 1973, saw the last US troops leave where: South Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        28th March, 1945, saw the birth of Rodrigo Duterte.   He was the sixteenth president of where: Haiti, the Philippines or Vanuatu?
A1)        The Philippines.

Q2)        28th March, 1910, saw the birth of Queen Ingrid of Sweden.   From 1947, she was Queen of where: Sweden, Denmark or Finland?
A2)        Denmark.

Q3)        The US State Department released the Acheson–Lilienthal Report: on 28th March, 1946.   The Report outlined US proposals for the control of what: nuclear power, drugs or the Internet?
A3)        Nuclear power and/or weapons.

Q4)        Which airport began operations on 28th March, 2001: Athens International Airport, Bremen Airport or Cagliari Airport?

Q5)        Finally … ? 28th March, 1515, saw the birth of Saint Teresa of Ávila.   She was what sort of nun: an Augustinian nun, Benedictine nun or Carmelite nun?
A5)        A Carmelite nun.   (Apparently, she was discalced: shoeless, in other words.)
Here’s a thought …
“I was originally cast to be the brains of the Enterprise.   Somehow, I became The Chick.   There’s a little ugly girl inside of me going ‘Yay! I’m a sex symbol!’”
Marina Sirtis, born 29 March 1955.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

        OK: we’ll catch you when you’re in, Olga.   Don’t forget to send us a postcard: and don’t get caught up in the barricades!

‡        I’m not fussy, Debbi: so long as it’s a sugar free Carmelite!   You have to love diabetes!   (Oh, Teresa was a discalced Carmelite: they didn’t wear shoes, it seems.)
        You’ve not seen Things to do in Denver When You're Dead?   Shame on you!   You’ve missed one hell of a film!   Christopher Walken is seriously menacing!

Q1) the Punjab

Q2) Pakistan

Q3) Copenhagen

Q4) 29th March is the feast day of Saint Gwynllyw. He’s the patron saint of whom: pirates, soldiers or sailors? Well, both Wikipedia and Catholic online say he is the patron saint of both, pirates and soldiers, so...

Q5) South Vietnam

Thanks, Paul. I suspect anything official isn’t going to be working well in France at the moment, and with Ramadan on in Egypt, well, much of the same. I’ll report back when I’m back.
I will share more about the award ceremony when I’m back, but I think most of the posts and pics will go up today or later. Just in case, the district, the local government section handing out the awards, have the video posted on their website, and also on YouTube.
Here is their page:
https://ajuntament.barcelona.cat/sants-montjuic/ca/noticia/els-xxxi-premis-sants-montjuic-ja-tenen-guanyadors-i-guanyadores_1268749
And this is the video on their YouTube Channel:

The award for innovation, which is the one the news portal run by the Sants 3 Ràdio won, comes up around minute 26:30 or so. You can see my fingers on the tablet at the beginning of the video (it seems they edited it as they saw fit), and then a few of us come up on stage. Pau is the MC (the blond guy with the glasses). The girl who talks briefly is Mireia, and she looks after the visual side of things (design, pictures, etc). She is also the director’s partner. And the man who talks after her is the director, Oleguer. You’ll recognise me, so I don’t need to tell you who I am, and I didn’t talk.
You might enjoy the songs as well. They come up around 50:30. The two girls have been singing with the church choir (the church is the one whose bell tower the radio station lives in) since they were kids. They don’t do only church hymns, but other kinds of music as well.
Take care and good luck with the GP call.
Ah, the building where the awards’ ceremony took place is stunning, although I’m not sure how much of it you can see on the video, but there are glass stained windows, and very fancy wrought-iron lamps and banisters...

That’s a thought, Debbi: did you hear about the tragic events in Nashville? I can’t help but think the USA really needs to do something about guns!

~~~~~~
JUST as a thought, Olga? Did you hear that Paul O’Grady has died? He and Lily were national treasures!
Every time I turn around, there's a shooting somewhere. It's ridiculous. It makes me sick, frankly.
I also don't think the Second Amendment gives every single U.S. citizen the absolute right to carry a gun. If you look at the actual text, one can interpret it quite differently than it has been.
1. the Punjab
2. Pakistan
3. Copenhagen
4. pirates and soldiers See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwynllyw
5. South Vietnam
Christopher Walken has practically built his career on being menacing or just flat-out weird! :) Gotta love him!
