Nik Nak’s (Birthday) Daily Teaser — 4th March 2023.

4th March, 2023.

You know … it’s my birthday, today.

Feel free to say ‘Happy Birthday.’

Or buy me something.

What have you!

At any rate … ?

I’ve woken up to a cold flat … and a boiler that wasn’t switching on.

Wha … ?

Yes: the boiler wasn’t switching on, the hot water could be used to freeze cheese, and the radiators were doing a good impression of cold slabs of metal attached to an internal wall.

And the read-out?   Told the pressure had dropped to 0.0bar,

It was nippy.   I was panicking.

It wasn’t working

But, having vague memories of someone telling me how to reset the thing, I held the power button down for three seconds.

That started it working again.

I’m going to have to keep an eye on the thing, I think.

But?

Turning it off and on again seemed to work for now!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        4th March, 1973, saw the birth of MP, Penny Mordaunt.   At the time of writing, she’s what: Leader of the House of Commons, Foreign Secretary or Minister without Portfolio?

Q2)        Kyriakos Mitsotakis was born on the same day as me: 4th March, 1968.   He’s currently Prime Minister of where: Greece, Turkey or Cyprus?

Q3)        Chlöe Howl was born on 4th March, 1995.   She’s a what: singer, dancer or actress?

Q4)        Writer, James Ellroy was born on 4th March, 1948.   He’s famous for writing what: sci-fi novels, crime novels or romantic fiction … ?

Q5)        Finally … ?   4th March, 1394, saw the birth the Portuguese explorer, Prince Henry.   He’s better known how: Henry the Navigator, Henry the Explorer or Henry the Map?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        According to the relevant World Health Organisation office, 3rd March is World what Day: World Sight Day, World Hearing Day or World Smell Day?
A1)        World Hearing Day.

Q2)        In Japan, 3rd March is Hinamatsuri.   In other words, it’s what: Girl’s Day, Boy’s Day or Baby’s Day?
A2)        Girl’s Day.

Q3)        Tsar Alexander 2nd of Russia signed the Emancipation Manifesto: on 3rd March, 1861.   The Manifesto did what: allowed women to vote, freed serfs or ended pogroms?
A3)        Freed serfs.

Q4)        3rd March, 1938, saw oil discovered, where: Iran, Iraq, California or Saudi Arabia?
A4)        Saudi Arabia.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The USS Nautilus was decommissioned: on 3rd March, 1980.   It was which country’s first nuclear submarine: the UK’s, the USA’s or the USSR’s?
A5)        The USA’s.
Here’s a thought …
“At 29, I have never smoked a cigarette.   I don’t drink tea or coffee, and I don’t smoke.”
Patsy Kensit, born 4th March, 1968.   (This was a few years ago.)
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        It’s … well, it’s a devil of a situation, Olga.   Apparently?   The courts have named the baby ‘Victoria.’   Which is possibly the only way the poor little thing would get a name …
The parents?   Will hopefully do time: and not have a good time, inside.   Prisoners tend to seriously look down on people that hurt or kill children.

        Hello, Mum.   See you later!

‡        That doesn’t surprise me, Debbi.   Rob Grant and Doug Naylor — Red Dwarf’s creators — wrote novelised versions of the shows episodes as Grant Naylor: I can seehow they’d get a mention.   They also wrote a few songs for Spitting Image^.   Including the Chicken Song!

^        Pointless trivia for you, Debbi.   Spitting Image’s version of Ronald Reagan was voiced by Chris Barrie: Rimmer in Red Dwarf.   He also voiced Reagan in the original 12” mix of Two Tribes.   He was busy in the 1980s!

Yes, I've heard that prisoners don't take lightly to men who hurt children or women either. They tend to keep them protected, but...
