Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd March 2023.

2nd March, 2023.

I don’t know about you … but my default TV channel is the BBC’s news channel.

And, back in January?

The channel told us that Constance Marten and her boyfriend, Mark Gordon, had gone missing.

It seems she was from a very posh family: and he had convicted of at least one rape — at the age of fourteen — and deported to the UK, from the US.

Their burnt out car was found in January.

I thought, at the time, it sounded romantic: a latter day Bonnie and Clyde, hiding from the police by going seriously off-grid.

Then news came out of Gordon’s offences: apparently, he’s done some twenty years for rape.

Then came the serious news.

The pair had had a child: one who’d not had the usual jabs and checks a new born child would have.

A couple of days ago?

The pair were found — minus the child — and arrested.

With the police searching for the child: and making appeals.

Yesterday … ?

The baby’s body was found.

I could weep.

But also admit I wasn’t surprised: ever since I’d heard they’d been found, but not the child.

The pair have — for whatever reason — gone on the proverbial run.

Which is fair enough.

But … ?

Have — effectively — killed their own child as a result.

I’m deeply saddened … and can only hope the pair do serious amounts of time.

They might have an explanation.

But that doesn’t mean they’ve got an excuse: not for the death of a child.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, San Marino, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, all joined the United Nations: on 2nd March, 1992.   Which of those nations was the only one that hadn’t been part of the Soviet Union?

Q2)        2nd March is Adwa Victory Day.   Where: Egypt, Eswatini or Ethiopia?
Q3)        CDs, and CD players, were released in the US: on 2nd March, 1983.   A CD is a Compact … what?

Q4)        Former MP, Lembit Öpik, was born on 2nd March, 1965.   Famously, he dated Gabriela Irimia.   Gabriela belonged to which girl band: The Saturdays, the Spice Girls or the Cheeky Girls?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Anthony Albanese was born on 2nd March, 1963.   He’s the current Prime Minister of where: Australia, New Zealand or South Africa?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        March starts on the 1st March.   The name, ‘March,’ comes from the name, ‘Martius.’   It comes from which Empire’s calendar: Rome’s, China’s or Japan’s?
A1)        Rome’s.

Q2)        It’s named after a god of what: war, peace or money … ?
A2)        War.

Q3)        In the Northern Hemisphere, March is part of meteorological what: Spring, Summer or Autumn?
A3)        Spring.

Q4)        The Bridge on the River Kwai famously uses a march as part of its soundtrack.   Which March: Colonel Bogey, The British Grenadiers or Scotland the Brave?
A4)        The Colonel Bogey March: usually just called Colonel Bogey.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Welsh Marches are the imprecisely defined area between Wales: and where?
A5)        England.
Here’s a thought …
“I go through life thinking it’s all going to end tomorrow.”
Daniel Craig, born born 2 March 1968.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Ah ha!   I’m glad I’m not the only one, Olga!

        Hello, Mum!

        It’ll possibly sound familiar, Debbi … !

Sad news about the baby. I hadn't heard about it here. I honestly thing some people should do the world a favour and not have children, or at least give them up at birth. I remember a woman coming to the hospital with three little ones, and she had her arms full of holes from injecting cocaine, and she didn't want a big bandage, so the children wouldn't worry. I didn't tell her what I was thinking, but I am sure the children, especially the oldest one, who must have been 5 or 6, would have noticed the holes in the arms already.
