Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Theatrical cut) — A Review

23rd March, 2025: Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Right …

It’s not often I watch two films over the course of a weekend.

But?

It’s another quiet night.

And, frankly?

I fancied a film.

Or, at least, another film: having already caught the 2024 version of Nosferatu, in the past few days.

Yes: of course there’s things I’d rather be doing.

But?

I’ll settle for watching a film.

And … ?

Given that I’ve already seen the Director’s Cut?

I felt retreading old ground could be appropriate.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th October, 2021.

29th October, 2021.

You know, it’s a Friday.

You can tell, can’t you?

Frankly, that means the day is — for me — exercise free, and not involving making videos.

So I’ve plenty of time to watch a film.

Whether I do or I don’t is a whole other thing.

But there’s certainly one I want to see.

Sometimes, coming home with shopping can be interested.

Especially when you can a phone call when you walk through the door with a couple of bags of shopping.

It turns out the manager of the local post office saw my application and wants to interview me on Monday.

At one.

Can someone remind me to put my shirts in the wash … ?

Cheers … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th October, 2018

29th October, 2018.

Right, it’s officially the start of a shiny new week, and I … ?

Have time off.

There’s possibly going to be time to put my feet up.

But, frankly?   I think wiping down the kitchen’s going to be handy, at some point.

As is going to Sainsbury’s.

They do a loyalty card scheme: called Nectar.

You get a point for every pound you spend, and, once you have five hundred points?

You have £2·50 to spend.

They give you the occasional coupon, as well: you know, eighty points if you buy this, fifty if you buy that, triple points, if you spend so much.

I’ve got a coupon that gives me one thousand points, the next time I shop.

That’s a fiver’s worth, if you didn’t realise.

That’s some milk and a multipack of cola, at Sainsbury’s prices.

And possibly one of their giraffe baguettes.

I can’t say no to that …

Those baguettes are rather nice …

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Directors Cut): If you’re going to do Spectacle …

25th August, 2015.

I’ve really been neglecting the fact I have an iTunes account.

Really.

And neglecting the fact I have a little credit in my account to rent movies with.

Work takes up time: as does writing Teasers, minimal socialising, and whatever ever else.

So … ?

A night off … ?

A night off, with nothing on TV?

A night off, nothing on TV and enough in my account to rent a film … ?

What though?

The Falling didn’t quite grab me, interesting though it looks.

Child 44 … ?   Again, interesting looking, but not grabbing me as completely as I would’ve wanted …

And, much as I’d KILL to have a watch … ?   Mad Max: Fury Road* hasn’t yet been released to the on demand market.

Personally … ?

I went retro: and went and rented a film I’d not seen for a while.

The Steven Spielberg directed, 1977 release that is Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

And, just so you know?

The version I got from iTunes is the Directors cut.
