Dr Who — New Year’s Day Special 2021: Revolution of The Daleks.

1st January, 2021.

As a warning: this post contain’s mild spoilers.

Be aware of that, if you’ve not yet seen Revolution of The Daleks.

Right …

It’s officially the case: it’s New Year’s Day.

I’ve had dinner at my family’s: in case you didn’t know.

Bœuf bourguignon, so you know.

And … ?

And, you say … ?

I’ll confess to being rushed … and possibly not believing my eyes!

And possibly getting myself in trouble … !

At any rate … ?   I’ve managed to see this years Dr Who NewYears’ Day special, Revolution of The Daleks.

And have come away impressed.

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 10 — The Timeless Children — A Review

1st March, 2020.

It’s a Sunday …

You know this, already.

And, if you anything like me?

On a night when there’s nothing to do, you’ll end up doing a few things.

You’ll need up trying to keep yourself yourself occupied.

What do you do, out of interest?   Watch the big match?   Read a book?   Recreational somethings?

I’m pretty sure you can let me know.

Speaking personally?

I’d rather not spend my time with beer: I spent too many years as a barman.

I — occasionally — spend time with friends and family.

It’s my birthday, on Wednesday: so I got treated to a meal, and a session of ten pin bowling, with my sister and nephew.

Ruth won, with a total of ninety-seven points.   I came in second, Jude came in last.

I don’t think Jude was happy, either!

He’s healthily competitive.

At any rate … ?

Tonight is Sunday night.

Which, over the past few months … ?

Means I’m watching just the one TV show.

Yes: I’ve seen the final episode of Doctor WhoSeries 12.

There’s a possibility of a meaningful look.

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 9 — Ascension of the Cybermen — A Review

23rd February, 2020.

Yes: it’s Sunday night.

Just so you know.

And those of you who’ve been following me for a while … ?

Will realise I’ve had dinner at my family’s.

And been able to borrow one of my sisters laptops to check out …

Do you know what an installer is?

It’s something that lets you install software — productivity software, operating systems, drivers, what-have-you — onto a computer.

I’ve been trying to make one for a while, now: that will let me install a version of the open source operating system, Ubuntu, onto a laptop.

The laptop’s a birthday present, so you know, and something I’ll be getting in a few weeks time.

But I’m not particular keen on having Windows on there: which is why I’m trying to make an OS installer.

I’ve not been able to use my Mac to do it.

So ended up using the Windows version of balenaEtcher to turn the stick into an Ubuntu installer.

Given I’m a committed Mac fan?

You can imagine my annoyance.

But, at any rate, I now have a suitable stick …

All I need now is a suitable computer …

~≈Ω≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s Sunday.

Sunday night.

And, before you ask?

Yes: I’ve seen tonight’s episode of Doctor Whoseries 12.

Ascension of the Cybermen …

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 8 — The Haunting of Villa Diodati — A Review

*Spoilers*

16th February, 2020.

Yes: it’s definitively the case.

My tumble dryer, the one that isn’t audible to you, but that I could hear whilst recording that video …

Is a loud b*gger!

It’s noisy enough that I think I should replace it.

Except, of course, that it’s something I only bought last year!

Ho …

Hum!

~≈Ÿ≈~

One thing I’m aware of … ?

Is simply that there’s a possibility I’ll be getting a cheap laptop, soon.

On my birthday, at the start of March.

The 4th, if you wanted to buy me a card.

At ANY rate … ?

There’s a possibility of a cheap laptop.

Me being me?

I’d rather not have Windows on the thing.

Just on general principles.

I’d far rather use an open source operating system like Ubuntu.

Usually?

I’d use an app called balenaEtcher to turn a USB memory stick into what’s called a live disc: a kind of installer, in other words.

Except, of course, balenaEtcher is having some sort of spasm … and refusing to work!

There’s a possibility, though, that I can get the same result by fiddling around in Terminal: the macOS equivalent to the Windows command line.

Old fashioned typed commands, in other words.

On top of that … ?

I may have to enable my root account — a sort of extremely powerful user account on a computer — to get that to work.

It’s not something I’m used to, or confident about: I’m very aware the root account is not something to play around with, lightly.

Although I can, in theory, activate the one on my old machine: and try the job on there.

We are going to have to see, aren’t we?

~≈Ÿ≈~

At any rate, it’s a Sunday night.

A Sunday night when Doctor Who
 is on.

Yes: you’re right, another episode of series 12.

I’ve been glued to it.

And, yes …

The Haunting of Villa Diodati is fantastic.

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 7 — Can You Hear Me? — A Review

9th February, 2020.

Right …

JUST so you know?

My name’s Paul: and I live in the United Kingdom.

And?

Right at the moment, it’s 20:14 …

And Storm Ciara is still … blowing.

To the point where the video I caught this morning is possibly seriously out of date.

It’s been breezy, in other words!

Breezy enough that the BBC transmitters went down this morning!

Personally … ?

I’m thankful that didn’t happen this evening!

~≈¥≈~

At any rate, I felt I should tell you two things.

For starters?

I’ve got Marley’s* Exodus album on in the background.

You have to put a classic on, sometimes, don’t you?

The other thing?

I’ve seen tonight’s episode of Doctor Who.

And I’m thinking Can You Hear Me? has quite an atmosphere!

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 6 — Praxeus — A Review

2nd February, 2020.

Right … you can possibly tell I recorded that introductory vide earlier tonight.

You’d be right.

I’d literally got home from dinner with my family.

Going by what Jude, my nephew, tells me … ?

I’m not as good as Mummy at FIFA 20 …

It’s the buttons on the handsets.

I grew up on a joystick, after all.

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

I managed to get myself home in time for some TV.

Yes: you’re right.

I caught episode six of Doctor Who’s twelfth series.

~≈§≈~

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 5 — Fugitive of the Judoon — A Review

26th January, 2020.

Yep: it’s a Sunday night.

Yes: I’m at home.

Yes: the new boiler definitely is working.

You’re not near my armpits, trust me.

Which is stuff that’s possibly not relevant.

You see, I’ve been watching TV, tonight.

Episode five, of Doctor Who
’s twelfth series.

I think there’s a few twists.

After all … guess who puts in an appearance?

Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman)
Fugitive of the Judoon.
Yes … him …

Doctor Who — Series 12: Episode 4 — Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror — A Review

19th January, 2020.

Right … it’s a Sunday …

And it’s one that’s been a quiet Sunday.

Bar dinner at my family’s: and quietly trying to work out how to transfer stuff from my sister’s laptop … to her phone.

We’ve both got Huaweis, I should add: running Android.

On my Mac?

The connecting software works perfectly well.

On Ruth’s laptop?

A PC running Windows Ten, version 1903?

The software refuses to connect.

Ho … bloody … hum.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll possibly say it again …

Somebody really needs a Mac!

~≈Î≈~

At any rate … ?

At any rate, I’ve actually managed to catch some TV tonight.

Given That you’ve worked out I’m a Dr Who fan … ?

I’m not going to ask you what I’ve watched.

You’ve possibly already guessed.

Haven’t you … ?

Yep: I’m watching more of Doctor Who’s twelfth series.

~≈Î≈~

Dr Who — Series 12: Episode 3 — Orphan 55 — A Review

12th January, 2020.

Yes: I’ve officially spent time with my family, tonight.

And, frankly?

Spent a lot of my time with my nephew, Jude.

Watching Shaun the Sheep, in case you were wondering.

Which is …

More fun than it sounds, to be honest.

Especially when the spider kept popping up in the bath.

At any rate … ?   And back at home?

Back at home, it’s time for the weekly ritual that is the latest episode of Doctor Who.

~≈¥≈~

Dr Who — Series 12: Episode 2 — Spyfall Pt Two — A Review

5th January, 2020.

You know, Sunday night’s are a something of a traditional, for my family.

I tend — whenever possible — to have dinner at my mother’s place.

Lasagne, if you’re asking.

The evening also featured an intense discussion with my nine years old nephew, Jude.

About which player to play for his team in FIFA 20.   He settled for Sergio Busquets …

Who inevitably turned into Sergio Biscuits as the evening wore on.

You really have to be a member of our family, to get that one … !

~≈†≈~

Whether you are or you aren’t is possibly beside the point.

You’re possibly guessing that one thing, though.

That I seriously wanted to get myself home.

For starters?

The copies of The Leopard from Lime Street I’d ordered were due in.

And got here, just before I sat down to watch Episode 2 of Doctor Who’s twelfth series.

It was a little bit tight …

~≈†≈~

Dr Who — Series 12: Episode 1 — Spyfall Pt One — A Review

1st January, 2019.

*Spoilers*.

Yes: it’s official.

I like TV, and I cannot lie.

And, after a day with little to do — New Year’s Day is a Bank holiday in the UK — something I was looking forward to.

Well … looking forward to, after I had dinner with my family.

Trust me, nine year olds and Monopoly don’t necessarily mix.

That’s a long story!   Don’t even ask … !

At any rate?

I like watching TV.

There’s one I’ve watched for years.

Yes: you’re right …

Doctor Who is back on …

Dr Who — New Year’s Day Special 2019: Resolution

1st January, 2019.

You know, I THINK … my nephew likes games.

At least … he’s been over, tonight, to see Doctor Who.

Which we ended up watching, I should add.

Although it has to said, Jude has decided he like the look of Armagetron Advanced, the light-bike style game that’s been on my Mac for …

Well, ever since I got a Mac running a version of OS X.

The PPC version of Tiger (OS X 10•4•x) on an old G4

Since you’re asking.

About the only WORRYING thing … ?

Is that Armagetron Advanced hasn’t managed to upgrade to a 64 bit version.

I’m getting a worrying amount of “This App Is Not Optimised” warnings …

At any rate, the reason my nephew was over … ?

Was the TV …

Was specifically a TV show …

The TV show …

Dr Who …

Resolution …

~≈§≈~

Sunday, 9 December 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 10 — The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos

9th December, 2018.

9th December, 2018.

Yes, it’s true.

Jude — my soon to be eight year-old nephew —  had his eighth birthday party, today.

Not much of a do …

Apart from the exotic-ish animals and informative talks supplied by Exotic Explorers.

I got to hold an owl called Echo, and a snake called Katness.

And Jude had a hedgehog …

Just in case that grabs anyone’s attention.

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

I don’t know about you, but I was home in time for tea.

A baked and a chicken Kiev.

Which possibly isn’t the health … thi …

Which definitely isn’t the healthiest: but at least it’s relatively cheap.

So …

A meal … a drink … washing up, done …

Given all that was done … ?

It meant I was in time for this week’s episode of Doctor Who.   Episode 10 of series eleven, if you must know.

It’s a serious shame it’s the last episode or the current series.

I think Jodie Whittaker’s cracked it.

~≈§≈~

Sunday, 2 December 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 9 — It Takes You Away

2nd December, 2018.

Yes …

It’s … interesting …

Well … if that’s the sort of thing you’re interested in.

What am I talking about … ?

There are time I really wish I knew!

For the moment … ?

I’m going to have admit I’m on a limb!

~≈§≈~

At any rate?

At any rate, it’s a Sunday night where I’ve walked home after a family dinner

And almost missed tonight’s episode  of Doctor Who’s eleventh series.

Which was …

Interesting …

~≈§≈~

Sunday, 25 November 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 8 — The Witchfinders

25th November, 2018.

Yes: it’s Sunday night, again …

And yes: I’ve had the night in.

As you may or may not know, I’m job hunting at the moment.

So, even given it’s the weekend … ?

I’ve been merrily filling in online forms, checking boxes …

And getting mildly annoyed one potential interview wanted ID I couldn’t.

Isn’t that a pain … ?

At ANY rate … ?

I’m getting help, and told that I can get help with ID.

Or, at least, a provisional driving license.

Here’s hoping that helps!

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s a Sunday.

Which means I had dinner with my family, earlier.

My nephew, Jude?   Has managed to discover a new game on Mummy’s phone …

Which Ruth’s happy about …

At ANY rate … ?

At ANY rate, as it’s a Sunday?

That meant one thing …

It meant Doctor Who.

Episode 8 … !

~≈§≈~

Sunday, 18 November 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 7 — Kerblam!

18th November, 2018.

Yes: it’s one benefit of not having a job …

For those of you who last last week’s review?

Yes: I’m now out of work.

Having been laid off.

Long story …

To be frank?

The job was worthwhile … but there’s always the one or two people you have a rough time getting on with.

At ANY rate … ?

I’m job hunting …

And have an interview on Wednesday.

Wish me luck for that … !

~≈§≈~

At any rate, there’s one upshot of that.
  • It means I’ve been …

  • Job-hunting.
  • Cleaning.
  • And raiding the movie collection.

Here, here, here and here, so you know.

There’s several other things I need to do: that I’d rather keep to myself, thank you!

I’ve ALSO managed be at home when another episode of Doctor Who’s eleventh series has been on.

It’s a pleasure to be in when my favourite show goes live.

Especially when it’s good.

~≈§≈~

Sunday, 11 November 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 6 — Demons of the Punjab

11th November, 2018.

Yes … I’m having trouble at work, at the moment.

It’s a long story.

Basically boiling down to an argument with a supervisor.

Frankly?

I’m not sure if I’ll have a job, tomorrow.

I …

Am getting too old for this.

~≈§≈~

Either way … ?

Either way, I’ve had today off, which makes a change.

On what is, obviously, Remembrance Sunday, as well as the anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War 1.

I managed to get up to Brentwood High Street for it, and caught the inevitable parade.

Which was nice to see.

It has to be said, after seeing those medals on the chests of the few veterans who paraded in Brentwood, I have to wonder who gets to wear what, when …

And what side of the chest.   After all, is it right hand side if it’s your medal?   Or right hand side if you wearing an absent family member’s medal?

Whatever … !

Tonight was a Sunday night off …

That, for me … ?

Means more Doctor Who, series 11.

Yes, you’re right …

~≈§≈~

Sunday, 4 November 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 5 — The Tsuranga Conundrum

4th November, 2018.

Yes: it’s official!

I think my favourite show has managed to revive … Beep the Meep … !

Ker-CHING!

Ahem!

You can tell I’m burbling, can’t you … ?

I am tired, after all: as I was at five, this morning, to get everything I need to do, done.

Including the Daily Teaser, since you ask!

And, yes: there’s a Bonfire Night one, tomorrow!

At any rate?

I’m knackered …

But I’ve just seen the fifth episode of Doctor Who’s eleventh series.

And frankly?

OK, I’m thinking the central creature is … familiar …

~≈§≈~

Sunday, 28 October 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 4 — Arachnids in the UK

28th October, 2018.

Can I make a confession … ?

I am — right now — rather tired.

Which is possibly why I look tired in the introductory.

Obviously … !

At ANY rate … ?

I’ve gotten myself home.

Got something to eat … got something to eat … made sure the timer on the boiler was reset.

The clocks went back, today.

At ANY rate … ?

It’s a Sunday night.

For me?

That means one thing.

Another episode of Doctor Who’s eleventh series.

~≈§≈~

Monday, 22 October 2018

Dr Who — Series 11: Episode 3 — Rosa

21st October, 2018.

It’s true …

I am tired …

I have, after all, been up since five, this morning.

After having got to work for ten.

That sort of day can take it out of a body.

At any rate … ?

I came home looking for ward to something to eat.

That’s covered.

And getting some sleep.

I’ll be doing that, once I’ve posted this.

Oh …

And catching some TV.

You can possibly guess, by now, what show I’ve caught, can’t you?

You’re right.

The one I’ve got on in the background, right now.

The one I’ll quite possibly start my day off, with, tomorrow morning.

You’re right …

Episode 3 of Doctor Who’s eleventh series.

Rosa.

Yes …

‘Hot stuff’ is bloody accurate … !

~≈§≈~
