Right … 

It’s not often I watch two films over the course of a weekend.

But?

It’s another quiet night.

And, frankly?

I fancied a film.

Or, at least, another film: having already caught the 2024 version of Nosferatu, in the past few days.

Yes: of course there’s things I’d rather be doing.

But?

I’ll settle for watching a film.

And … ?

Given that I’ve already seen the Director’s Cut?

I felt retreading old ground could be appropriate.

West Side Story (2021) — A Review

12th January, 2023.

Right.

It’s a Thursday night.

And, frankly?

I have a quandary.

Or possibly a problem.

I’m writing this on an evening with little to do.

Bar fret.

And wonder what to watch.

Frankly?   I’m thinking the Spielberg cut of West Side Story looks attractive.

As does the documentary about 1996 made for TV, Dr Who movie: imaginatively named Dr Who Am I.

Or do I start watching the third season of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind?

Before the start of Picard’s third series, in February?

At any rate?

I’m going to watch something, tonight: and tell you about it, tomorrow night.

Here’s hoping I make my mind up.

Poltergeist (1982): A Review.

That’s a hell of a thing to do on your day off.

In amongst the several things I could be doing.

If you read my Daily Teasers, you’ll know I had a letter, a day or two ago, that wasn’t for me.

An eviction notice, if you must know.

For a Ms Alexandra Farrell, if memory serves, in Warescot Road: over in Pilgrims Hatch, near where my mother, and the rest of my immediate family live.

Frankly … ?

I’m sympathetic to what she’s going through: I’ve almost lost this flat a few times.

I haven’t: but luck, as well as diligence, has played a part, there.

At ANY rate … ?



I’ve put the thing in the letter box: there’s not much I could do, there, bar that.

Well, bar telling people about it.

Which I’ve done, this morning: via YouTube.

And by phoning the Brentwood Gazette.

Is posting that sort of thing to YouTube, legal?

Is talking to the Gazette about it equally legal, or moral?

To be frank, I’m blowed if I know.

About all I can say … ?

Is simply I’m curious … 

To know why Alexandra’s eviction notice ended up in my door.

At any rate, it’s a day off, today.

And, frankly?

That means … usually cleaning and laundry … 

And — depending on my mood, and what’s available — a film or a TV series.

I’ve just finished watching the most recent series of The Man in the High Castle: and caught the recent version of It …

And frankly, fancied something old school.

Does this mean I’ve seen a good film?

Hmmm … 

I’ve seen the 1982, Steven Spielberg produced, Tobe Hooper directed, Poltergeist …

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Directors Cut): If you’re going to do Spectacle …

I’ve really been neglecting the fact I have an iTunes account.

Really.

And neglecting the fact I have a little credit in my account to rent movies with.

Work takes up time: as does writing Teasers, minimal socialising, and whatever ever else.

So … ?

A night off … ?

A night off, with nothing on TV?

A night off, nothing on TV and enough in my account to rent a film … ?

What though?

The Falling didn’t quite grab me, interesting though it looks.

Child 44 … ?   Again, interesting looking, but not grabbing me as completely as I would’ve wanted … 

And, much as I’d KILL to have a watch … ?   Mad Max: Fury Road* hasn’t yet been released to the on demand market.

Personally … ?

I went retro: and went and rented a film I’d not seen for a while.

The Steven Spielberg directed, 1977 release that is Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

And, just so you know?

The version I got from iTunes is the Directors cut.

The Adventures Of Tin Tin: Sex and Drugs and Adventures on the High Seas … !

Hmmm … 

You know, it’s not THAT often I settle in for a cartoon, of an evening, it really isn’t.

No, really, it isn’t.

It’s also — debatably — what I watched, last night.

Given that — and, yes, Kevin, Grub, I know I’m going to put the cat amongst the pigeons, with that last sentence — I had a night to myself.

And a copy of recent DVD release, the 2011 Steven Spielberg film, The Adventures Of Tin Tin.

Hmmm … 

Yes, let’s get moving on, shall we … ?
