Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-5-2024 — International Tea Day.

21st May, 2024.

Right then … it’s Tuesday!

And, frankly?

I’ve got I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue on in the background.

Where Tony Hawks has just murdered the Communards version of “Don’t Leave Me This Way”.

Dearie, dearie me … !

Can I admit to being in something of a doomy mood, today?

I’ve had mental images of nuclear war going through my head: not helped by having the Annihilation mix of “Two Tribes” on in the background.

I have to say, after seeing Threads?

The Patrick Allen speeches are no longer the funny Mickey-take I thought they were in the 1980s.

They’re terrifying*.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-4-2024 — Leonardo’s Bones.

15th April, 2024: Leonardo’s Bones.

Right … it’s now Monday!

Which means — obviously — I’m up early: as I’m off to my weight management meeting, today.

Hopefully?

And after gaining for the past few weeks?

I’ll’ve lost weight for once!

~≈Ω≈~

Every-so-often?

I’ll watch videos on Youtube: WhoCulture and TrekCulture are favourites: as is Tom Harries/Tharries.

Occasionally?

I’ll watch technology channels: there’s a few on YouTube.

I keep an eye on some of the Mac themed ones, obviously.

One of those is a channel called iJustine: run by a vlogger called Justine Ezarik.

Both her, Marques Brownlee and the LMG-produced Mac Address, hosted by Jonathan Horst*, are quite respected.

At any rate … ?

I managed to catch Justine’s review to the base model M2 Mac mini, yesterday: the same model sitting not far from where I am now sitting.

Here’s the review:

If I’ve understood Justine correctly?

The model she bought, the one sitting next to me, is capable of editing 8k video.

Given the right software: in her review, Justine uses Apple’s own Final Cut Pro.

I’m mildly impressed.

I did not expect the baseline mini to be that capable!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th March, 2022

17th March 2022.

Right … I’d put in for extra financial help.

You’d possibly worked that out, hadn’t you … ?

Tuesday?   I was due a phone call: to double check on details.

A call that finally took place, yesterday.

The decision finally turned up, last night.

It went against me.

Understably?

I’m starting off the appeals process: with what’s call a Mandatory Reconsideration.

Will it work?

I don’t know.

After all, the Wikipedia entry tells us the success rate for Personal Independence Payments is fifteen percent.

But … ?

I think that — however hard this may be? — it’s worth attempting.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2019: Saint Valentine’s Day

14th February, 2019.

Righty-ho, then …

I’ve now officially done … an online assessment test for a potential employer … !

Normally?

Normally, as you’ve possibly already worked out if you’ve watched the introductory video, they’re something I’m really not found …  easy, especially, to do.

Most of them feature some form of personality inventory: which is where I think I fall apart!

Thankfully?

Yesterday’s test, for the Royal Mail … ?

Didn’t feature one.

Whether that means I’ve bagged an interview — with face to face, or on the phone? — is a whole other matter.

Here’s hoping, though …

~≈§≈~

Just as a quick thought … ?

It’s Saint Valentine’s Day.

You’d possibly noticed, hadn’t you … ?

Personally?

I’m … always ambiguous about the thing.

Usually, I’ve either been single … or been in the sort of relationship where’s the day’s seen as nice … but mostly, just another day.

What gives me more food for thought … ?

Is the one time I sent a card, I got a … a …

Let’s call it a bad reaction, and leave it, there, shall we?

At ANY rate … ?

The only thing I am expecting is a Dr Who book.

If you HAVE sent me a card … ?

It’s a bit late!

The Daily Teaser — 8-1-2015: The Mona Lisa

Hmmm …

Looks like the good folk at the Gazette haven’t managed to post up the front page to their website.

Yet.

At any rate … ?   Going by that, it seems Brentwood Council’s in discussion with the independent chain, Genesis Cinema, to build a cinema.

With at least one screen.

Unfortunately, the way the article reads, it seems to imply that’s ALL we’d be getting: although on closer reading?   On closer reading it looks like the Council want’s to use the five screen Genesis owned — on the Mile End Road — as the model for a cinema in Brentwood.

Hmmm …

Personally, I think a five screen venues could be a touch too small: and that Genesis could well be charging premium prices that would make it unaffordable for many.

If, as the Council says, building does start by November?

We’ll see.
