Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-12-2025 — Name That Sportsman.

30th December, 2025: Name That Sportsman!

I think I can safely say I have two copies of The Lord of the Rings: Ralph Bakshi’s animated, 1978, version.

And I’m going to have to send back the DVD copy I got.

Amazon has both a DVD and a blu-ray version: and, given how their search results, go, sometimes?

I didn’t see the bluray version … until after I’d bought the DVD!

Something’s getting set back …

A few minutes ago, I took a couple of photos: outside the front of my building.

I don’t know that the camera on my phone catches the colours, but the sky … ?

Was gorgeous: with clouds turned glorious shades of red and pink, in the light of the sunrise.

OK: I grant you the old ‘Red Sky at Night’ saw reminds us the weather’s going to be (possibly) bad for the rest of the day.

But … ?

For the few moments it took me to take the photos, it was beautiful.

You’ll possibly remember that former Old Peculiar regular, Trevor Veail, died recently.

I’ve been contacted by Gill, his sister: who tells me his cremation is tomorrow — 31st December, 2025 — at 8·30.

As it’s what’s called a simple funeral, she’s encouraging us to send thoughts, then …

I’ll be pausing, I know that: as it will be a sad day.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-10-2025 — The US Open.

4th October, 2025: the US Open.

Good god, there’s a woman in charge!

Slightly more respectfully?

Bishop Sarah Mullally has been named as the one hundred and sixth Archbishop of Canterbury: the first woman to be appointed to the role.

That’s welcome.

And somewhat unsurprising.

There’s been talk of a female being appointed for many years: but?

The bishop, herself, had some serious leadership roles when she was a nurse.

Much as her predecessor, Justin Welby, was a senior oil executive, and his predecessor, Rowan Williams, was the Archbishop of Wales.

The Church has, again, named someone with high level, organisational skills.

So, to me?

Her being named is no surprise: as she had the needed management skills.

What is also unsurprising?

There’s been complaints about her appointment≤ from more conservative Anglian groups, already.

She also does not support assisted dying: I disagree with her position.

I don’t like the idea, either: but feel it needs to be available, and enshrined in UK law.

She’s going to be installed in March: we’ll have to see happens …

As a quick, other thought … ?

Would you mind hitting the like button on a video?

Or the share button?

Yep: that’s Jude’s newest video … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-4-2025 — NATO Day.

4th April, 2025: NATO Day.

Right … it’s Friday …

And I’m a little anxious.

Frankly?

There’s been no news on the MakeMKV front.

I’m still getting the Fatal Error message: as no known update has been issued.

I’m …

Well, let’s just say I’m feeling anxious!

On the upside … ?

I’ve finished another review!

Yep: I’ve reviewed episode two of Classic Dr Who series, The Savages: fell free to leave me a comment … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 3-5-2020: Bing

3rd May, 2020.

It’s officially official: I’ve scraped together enough money to buy …

A pot!

Yes, I know that’s trivial: but it don’t half help with cooking vegetables.   I can microwave one lot, while boiling the others.

Plus, of course, I couldn’t see the type I wanted in Sainsbury’s.

Basically?

It’s a saucepan: with two pouring spouts, one on each side of the pot.

I’m fussy about this sort of thing: because I’m left handed.

A pan with two spouts, like an electric kettle with see-through measures on both sides?

Is a must-have.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18-11-2019: Morocco.

18th November, 2019.

Right …

I now have an official interview … for a job … !

I’m …

Mildly nervous, to be brutally honest.

And having the usual problem: the sneaky little voice at the back of my brain telling me there’s no point in going, as I won’t get the job.

Quite I how I deal with that, I don’t know.

Are you in the UK, as a thought … ?

JUST as a reminder, I’ve had my poll card through.

Which means I’m managed to guarantee that I can vote.

And found out my polling station is still where it was.

But, just in case you DIDN’T realise … ?

You have until the 26th November — next Tuesday — to register to vote.

Where you go in person, I don’t know.

This link tells you how to vote by post.

This is the link to do so, on line.

Please think about registering: I think this election’s going to be important.
