Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-6-2025 — Bradley Walsh

4th June, 2025: Bradley ‘You’re just making sounds now!’ Walsh.

Right …

I’m using a Mac mini, using macOS Sequoia and Safari 18.5 to write this.

Which you’d possibly guessed.

What you might not have realised is that I had an Openreach engineer ’round yesterday: to upgrade my router.

The earlier version had to be replaced: as BT, my internet provider, has been rolling out a ‘Digital Voice’ upgrade.

Basically?   The upgrade means my phone line now goes through the new router, rather than the box on the wall.

It seems to be working well enough: thus far.

I’m just hoping the costs doesn’t go up, much.

BT did try and introduce an International/Premium Rate blocking service to my revised contract, one that would’ve raised the prices by a few pounds.

Money I’d rather not pay.

Hopefully, that’s gone through.

~≈🪙≈~

Just as a last word … ?

I’m up early.

Again!

But this time … ?

To take part in a (video) meeting, on time, with my job centre case worker.

Here’s hoping the new kit works

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-6-2024 — When Two Tribes Go To War.

4th June, 2024: When Two Tribes Go To War.

Well …

It’s Tuesday … !

Which means I’ll be Jude sitting, later.

There’s a possibility of rabbits, I know that!

~≈¥≈~

Oh, now that’s sad!

A child was found abandoned, earlier this year: one named Elsa by medical staff, as she was found in very cold temperatures.

In news, today … ?

It turns out Baby Elsa is a full sibling of two other abandoned children — known as Harry and Roman — found in 2017 and 2019.

Those two earlier children have been adopted: Elsa herself, is in foster care.

I can only hope the children’s birth parents are found.

They obviously need help … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-6-2023 — Video Killed the Radio Star.

4th June, 2023.

Right … it’s a Sunday.

And you’ve possibly noticed I’ve not through in any variation of the word, ‘official’, there!

I’m in a funny mood!

At any rate … ?

I had my nephew, Jude, over, yesterday.

We managed to visit a local games shop called Retro Giant: where a couple of games caught his eye.

Oh, and yes: he’s done a video about a drink, and a movie …

~≈Í≈~

Just as a quick thought … ?

The cost of living is getting worse!

Trust me on that!

So … ?

This page on the BBC’s site … ?

Will probably give us something to think about.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-6-2022: Tiananmen

4th June, 2022.

Yes: it’s cloudy out.

Which means … ?

Well, not a lot, frankly.

But anyone having a street party, today, are going to be keeping an eye out for rain.

Here’s hoping it improves.

~≈Ç≈~

I mentioned street parties, there.

People are going to be organising them to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

That’s a day after there was a service of Thanksgiving at Saint Paul’s, yesterday.

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, turned out for that: along side his wife, Carrie.

He got booed.

I wish I’d been there.

I’d’ve loved to have joined in!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-6-2021: George 3rd

4th June, 2021.

It’s officially official: I did a little shopping, yesterday.

Bread, milk … and some monster potatoes.

You know what I forgot … ?

Peas!   Frozen peas!

I’d kick myself … except I’d possibly miss … !

~≈†≈~

Oh, JUST as a couple of bits of technology news?

One: Norton’s new antivirus software is now capable of crypto-currency mining.

It can — in theory — make you some money.

Whether that’s something you want your machine to do is a whole other issue.

Secondly?   Donald Trump’s much hyped From the Desk of Donald J. Trump blog, has been taken down.

Apparently?   The audience figures were dire.

Thankfully …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-6-2020: Tonga

4th June, 2020.

It’s officially the case: things are happening.

Radio Four’s Today programme has just told me that TV series, Chernobyl, has bee nominated for a BAFTA.

It’s nice to know that something I’ve seen — all five* episodes of it — is up for a gong.

It’s also nice to know something I’ve seen is up for a gong …

~≈†≈~

Something that isn’t so nice?

You’ll notice that police car, there?

I noticed it, heading to Brentwood High Street, yesterday.

That was the third one I saw parked in the area, over the space of ten minutes.

Coming back from the High Street, I was able to confirm what the bus driver had told me, on the way up.

There was armed policemen, there: with machine guns.

That’s not something I wanted to see in my town.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser 4-6-2018: Pulitzer!

4th June, 2018

Yes: former President Clinton has written a thriller with James Patterson.

And was on the Today programme, hawking the thing around town.

What caught my attention?

Was his criticism of moves in the US towards electronic voting booths: booths he feels would be too easy to hack.

Wise thought, that.

Personally?

I know in the UK has old fashioned paper voting.

But the impression I got from the media?

Was that the electoral counts, in various sports halls and parish halls across the country, used laptop with various spreadsheet apps, to store the results.   But that those laptops could not be connected to the net, until the count was finalised: to keep the risk of that machine being accessed remotely, and the results interfered with, to a minimum.

Which I can applaud …

But still find concerning.

Those results could still be swiped from a central computer …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-6-2017

Good lord …

As I write … ?

As I write I know pine co-worker was off, last night.

As his wife was giving birth: to a daughter.

Congratulations to them … !

For me, that was some good news to hear.

When I got home, last night … ?

It was to the news that three men had driven a van down London Bridge, then got out and started stabbing people.

Six people were killed as a result.

What … the … actual … fuck … ?

How, on a night that sees something as simply beautiful as a birth happen, does a group of idiots manage to do something like this?

How, during Ramadan, which many in Britain are celebrating?

Does someone manage rationalise doing this?

How does someone manage to do this … ?

And manage — after the Manchester attacks —to interrupt British democracy and manage to cause at least one party to suspend campaigning.

How?

God knows.

I certainly don’t.
