Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-1-2026 — David Lynch (Ten questions)

15th January, 2026: David Lynch.

Yay!

It’s Thursday!

Which means we can dance, sing, and wave our hands in the air: for no apparent reason.

Why?

Well, why not … ?

~≈🪢≈~

I’m something of a Mac fan: which you’d guessed.

So … ?

The news that Apple’s going to be introducing its Apple Creative Suite grabbed my attention.

The suite’s going to consist of subscription versions of their Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage, apps.

I have to confess, I like the idea: it seems a cheap way of getting hold of some well spoken of, powerful, software.

But … ?

I’m still not sure I like the idea of renting software: nor — on my money — does it the quoted price seem reasonable.

Given the money?

I’d be happier buying the main app, Final Cut Pro.

If anyone has £300 going begging, I’d love to hear about it!

Did I mention there’s a young woman called Drew Gulliver floating around various socials?

There’s a young woman called Drew Gulliver floating around various socials.

She’s gorgeous … and seems to have a thing about Dad jokes … !

Dearie, dearie me … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th January 20205.

15th January 2025.

Right … I’ve officially had my blood results in.

And … ?

I’m frankly, relived.

My glucose level, my HbA1C level, is dow for 57, last time: to 52 in the most recent test.

Celebrating with a pile of Mars bars and a sugary cuppa?

Possibly wouldn’t be a good idea …

But is a reason to feel pleased.

~≈🍫≈~

I have to admit, I’m slowly watching an episode of documentary series, Storyville, called “Eternal You”.

Seemingly?

A site called Project December, and others like it, uses generative AI technology to allow users to talk to avatars of their dead relatives.

I’m watching the episode in parts.

But … ?

I find this use of the technology* fascinating … but also disturbing.

Clearly, there’s a need for it: as much of a need as there is for something like a spiritualist church.

And clearly, a mix of religion and technology is going to get people talking.

I just don’t know if it’s an especially healthy mix: or a healthy use.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-1-2024 — Ivor Novello

15th January, 2024: Ivor Novello.

It’s Monday, again.

You know that as well as I do: you’ve got a calendar, as well!

At any rate: it’s Monday, and I’m up early, again.

As I’m off to my usual weight management class.

Hopefully, I’ll’ve lost some more weight!

~≈ß≈~

You — possibly — aware of the Post Office Horizon scandal, here in the UK.

To summarise?

A host of former sub-postmasters — the people who run post office branches in local shops — have been wrongfully convicted of various shades of fraud: as a result of faulty software and hardware.

Software and hardware supplied by Japanese company, Fujitsu.

It’s a scandal that’s been boiling for many years.

The reason I mention this?

Is that news has emerged: that tells us Government insiders tried to stop Fujitsu getting any more government contracts, back in the 2010s.

Going by the article I’ve linked to?

The company’s been awarded government contracts, since then.

Personally?

I think this is a story that’s going to both cause a stink.

And keep running.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th February 2023

15th January, 2023.

Right … It’s the morning after the night before.

And I’ve got Radio 4’s Sunday Service on in the background.

Which are usually reassuringly High Anglican.

Except that’ve just had an opera singer doing a hymn.

Which was a little bit too shrieky for this time of a Sunday morning!

At any rate … ?

My kid sister Ruth, and my nephew Jude, all went out for a meal, last night: at Il Palazzo, in Westcliff.

Which was rather good: even if HAS put me some weight on.

To finish off the evening, and as a delayed Christmas gift?

Went to Wifi Wars: a show at the Dixon Studio, part of Southend’s Palace Theatre.

It’s a live comedy show: that’s a mix of interactive games — played by the whole audience, on their mobile phones*! — and short, simple, quizzes.

The next one’s in Guildford, on the 27th January.

I’d book tickets: it’s a fun night out!

Doctor Who — The Evil of the Daleks: Episode 6 — A Review

14th January, 2022.

Right at the moment, I’m boiling potatoes: I’m cooking dinner, in other words, and making home-made chips as part of the meal.

So, of course, I’ve done the usual thing: chopped up a couple of spuds with a crinkle cutter, and put the things on to boil.

Before I roast them in the oven.

Which means … ?

Well, lots of things.

But it means I’m both nearer to getting fed: and nearer to watching episode six of classic Doctor Who story, The Evil of the Daleks, tonight.

If you’re reading this intro?   I should have my review up, by 15th January, 2022.

Here’s hoping it reads well … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-1-2022: Hill Street Blues

15th January, 2022.

Yes: it’s Saturday.

A foggy one, by the look of things.

And … ?   Regardless of the weather, I’m going to be finishing a review of episode six of The Evil of the Daleks, tonight: after watching it, last night.

It’s the first time in the show’s history we see the Dalek Emperor: and it has to be said, the thing’s amazing to see!

~≈Á≈~

Have you been watching the news … ?

Then you’re possibly aware that — during 2020’s strict COVID lockdown period — several parties were held at 10, Downing Street.

Including one the day before the funeral of Prince Phillip.

With Prime Minister Boris Johnson having been to some, and giving his permission for others: either by omission, or commission.

Either way … ?   Many — myself included — feel the PM looks like a lier and a hypocrite: for denying he went to some of these events, but turning out to have gone, and for condoning lockdown rules … and not following him.

I feel he should resign as PM*.

Whether he will or not, is a whole other thing … but falling on his (metaphorical) sword is looking like his only way out …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th January, 2021.

15th January, 2021.

Right …

I’ve had a quick look outside.

And?   It’s not actually raining!

That, and the fact I’m not expecting any visitors?

Means I can go out for a walk.

The excitement’s killing me!

~≈🚶🏻≈~

Which reminds me … I had someone down from my landlord’s: to look at the communal TV aerial.

Apparently?   The problem’s a bad cable at my end.

I’m going to get a new cable, as soon as I can afford to.   It needs to be a male to female RF cable.

TV aerial cable

But I’m suspicious.

If it’s just a cable in my TV?

Why on Earth are some of my neighbours having issues?

~≈📺≈~

Actually?   And totally off the subject?

The picture of the aerial cable is courtesy of a well known online encyclopaedia: which sees it’s 20th anniversary, today.

I wish I’d realised that, when writing today’s Teaser: I could’ve added another one to the set I did, seven years ago.

At ANY rate … ?

It’s a handy site to have bookmarked.

If you find it as useful as I do … ?

Feel free to donate!

~≈🌍≈~

Just as a final thought … ?

Apparently, 150, 000 entries have been deleted from the police national computer.

By accident.

Accident!

Who wants* to put money on it being human error, rather than the technical issue the government’s blaming?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-1-2020: Happy Days

15th January, 2020.

Remember, in late October, I had issues with my boiler?

The hot water was coming out tepid, at worst, and warm at best.

I booked up a repair for early November.

I had a total of three visits from two engineers.

With a final visit from an engineer on 6th November.

An engineer prepared to do extensive repair work: but only, eventually, replacing a sensor.

That lasted until late December: then the hot water issue repeated itself.

I reported it — again — and have a repair booked for this afternoon.

Meanwhile, back in the real world?

My hot water finally gave up the ghost on Sunday.

Which means:
  • I’m boiling water on the stove, so I can have a bath.
  • I spent a lot of time, yesterday, phoning the boiler people to let them know the engineer would need the parts he didn’t install, last time.

In the immortal words of John Lydon?

“Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?”

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-1-2019: At The Office

15th January, 2019.

Yes, it’s true … I’ve an interview … !

I’m sorry, that was vaguely poetic, wasn’t it … ?

At any rate: I’ve an interview in Romford, today.

And, what makes it worse … ?   Or at least, frantic … ?

I’ve another one tomorrow: in Southend!

Romford I can happily navigate.

Southend?   Well, it’s been a good decade!

Topping that off … ?

Topping that off, I’ve missed a call from a company called Tiger — at least I think that’s what the woman said the company’s called — who sound like they want to talk to me, as well.

Nice to know I’m in demand.

~≈§≈~

Oh …

Just as a quick thought …

Today sees the House of Commons making the famous Meaningful Vote on the Prime Minister’s Brexit plan.

A vote the PM stands a good chance of losing.

The results?

There’s talk of a vote of no confidence that will trigger a general election: with all that implies.

OR a second referendum.

I think if either happens, the country will be in more trouble than it thinks.

We’ll have to see …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th January, 2018

Hmmm …

I have to admit, I’ve been following the news, recently.

And taken a certain amount of interest in the case of John Warboys, the Taxi Rapist.

He’s been approved for release by the Parole Board: something that’s triggered arguments, and a review.

Something that’s proven controversial: as the man was convicted for several quite quite serious rapes and sexual assaults, often involving drug gin his victim, first.

I’m very aware of those crimes’ gravity: and agree he should have stayed inside for longer.

However, his release has been approved: by an independent parole organisation.

I’m ALSO aware that there’s other women who wish to see him tried for assaulting them.   And heartily encourage to do so.

Personally?

I feel he has served his time on the cases.

However, popular opinion tells us he should be inside.

I’m not to to disagree, there.

I am instead, going to say this.

There are many women who has they wish to see him charged for raping them: and have good evidence to back this up.

Good.

He’s served his time.

However, as more women accuse him of raping them?

Get the evidence together, get — this will be the hard bit — twelve unbiased jurors …

And put him on trial.

~≈§≈~

Just as a quick thing?

Just as a quick point, I’ve recently picked up a webcam: whose microphone works well enough …

Depending on which USB port the thing’s plugged into!

Saying that?

I’ve actually recorded myself reading out the questions.

When you consider I’ve never used iMovie to string video clips together: JUST editing down the .mov files — the slideshows you’d’ve already seen if you’ve followed me for a while — down to a manageable size.

And add audio …

Yes …

I think “Yoicks” is possibly the phrase, here!
