Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-8-2016: The Centennial State

I think we can say it’s official.

I’ve now stopped writing the Teasers for the Brentwood Gazette.

The editor, Alan, told me — and has reiterated — that they want to keep them: but only as an online presence.

And that the Teasers will no longer feature in the print edition.

Which is why I’m withdrawing them.

Going on the feedback I’ve had from Gazette readers, the Teasers audience are mostly older: and ones prefer the print version, rather than the online version.

Yes: I’ve enjoyed writing them.   Yes, they’ve received very good feedback.   Yes, having them there has nudged Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar up Google’s famous ranking.

And, yes, both Gazette staff and readers have been very supportive of them, generally.

But I honestly believe there is no point in continuing them, unless the Weekly Teasers are available both in print, and online: and thus getting maximum exposure.

I hate to do it, but feel I must.

As a final thought?

If you wish to complain about this — and frankly, I’d love it if you did — please leave me a comment.

But ALSO feel free to voice an opinion to the Gazette, itself.

By phoning them on 01245 602700, emailing them on editorial@gazettenews.co.uk or alan.woods@gazettenews.co.uk, or by writing to the editor, at:
Brentwood Gazette,
1st Floor,
Kestrel House,
Hedgerows Business Park,

Thanking you.

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 27-7-2016: Gary Gygax

Right …

I am feeling decidedly rushed: as I want to get a letter written: BEFORE I head into town to post it.

But, on the upside?

At least the postman’s been with a delivery!

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 20-7-2016: Walking on the Moon

Hmmm …

Am I the only person having trouble?

Honestly!

I’ve tried getting through to Wikipedia and the Creative Commons.org site …

And I’m definitely having trouble.

Either my router’s going home — which wouldn’t surprise me — or something’s happening to the ’Net.

Ouch!

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 13-7-2016: Live Aid

Arrgh … !

It’s a Wednesday: and yet, again?

I’m feeling rushed.

Not because I’m at work, no!

But because I’ve an interview: in London.

No pressure, then … !

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 6-7-2016: Sly Stallone

Right …

Sylvester Stallone
For the first time in a few weeks, I’m actually working on a Wednesday.

But starting at five o’clock, tonight.

So that’s all good.

As that gives me room to manoeuvre: AND get a few posts up!

Yep: it’s Wednesday …

Which means …

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 29-6-2016: The Television Centre of the World

Yes, it’s Wednesday.

And yes …

I’m practically skint!

There we go.   That’s what happens when you treat yourself to a blu-ray copy of Event Horizon.

You end up short of sleep, and short of cash.

Still, at least I’ve enough to go and get myself some milk.

I hate tea without milk!

Nik Nak’s Weekly Teaser — 22-6-2016: Going Underground

It’s Wednesday: and it’s a Wednesday before the biggest vote of Britain’s life.

The EU referendum vote, in case you were wondering.

Although, frankly?

Frankly, I’m more worried about posting these questions …

Oh, and taking some milk BACK to the shop I bought it from.

Yoghurt is not what I wanted.

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 15-6-2016

You know, I‘ve on a day off, at the mo.

But frankly?

And despite not needing to go out?

Frankly, I’m getting a touch of cabin fever: AND need to get a new mouse mat!

With that said … ?

Let’s get a move on …

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 8-6-2016: World Oceans Day

Sunset at Noronhas Beach
Right then …

I’m actually having a — wait for it — day off!

After having other days for …

For medical reasons!

Well …

An ultrasound scan on my stomach and kidneys: a GP’s appointment, after some recent blood tests.

Oh, and an opticians appointment.

The GP’s was the least worrying, actually: but there you go!

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 1-6-2016: Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

Right …

It’s Wednesday, isn’t it?

Yes, it is.   Which means time off …

And a bit of hard works, actually: teasers to write, shopping to do, TV to catch up with.

There’s something else.

I think I might have to do … laundry … !

Oy veh …

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 25-5-2016: Star Wars … !

Right …

It’s an official day to (mildly) panic!

I’m expecting visitors, any minute now: and in a BIT of a rush!

Amazing what revving up a laptop will do, isn’t it?

Or, at least, having a reputation for revving up a laptop will do!

At ANY rate … ?

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 18-5-2016: Hooray for Bollywood

I Am A Camera
For once … ?

For once, I’m not actually rushed.

No, really!

I’m not actually putting up this week’s Weekly Teaser in a hurry: as I’ve got today off.

Still … ?

I’m planning on heading for Brentwood High Street.

As I left my back-pack at work, yesterday!

D’Oh … !

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 11-5-2016: One Night In New York

A Big Chess Computer
Chess pieces

Right … I’m officially ill … having just phoned into work, with a poorly set of guts.

And … ?

I’ve a doctor’s appointment booked up for the 7th June, AND some blood tests booked up for next week.

So I can at least get some sort of treatment.

 This is getting stupid!

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 4-5-2016: Observing the Observatory

You know … I’ve actually got time off, today!

Believe it or not.

And it’s actually making me miss unemployment.

Not that I don’t miss the money … But I DO miss the lack of job stress.

Oh, granted, I don’t have a job that’s high in the stuff: unlike, say, a nurse, doctor or ambulance driver.

But still, it’s nice to be off.

On the OTHER hand?

I’ve got to post up this, make sure the Gazette’s equivalent go through, sit indoors And wait for Apple to phone, to sort out an issue … …

And buy my mother a birthday card!

Oy Veh … !

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 27-4-2016

Right …

Once again, I am definitely rushed, today.

So I’m going to head right into this week’s Weekly Teaser.

With as minimal fuss as possible … !

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 20-4-2016: UN Chinese Language Day

Bad Egg!

Blimey … !

The shop had no French sticks!

I’m off to work, this afternoon: and start at two.

So, obviously, was planning a biggish, and late, lunch, today.

Preferably?

Preferably, with a ham baguette.

Except my local Nisa’s … ?

Had run out out of French sticks!

Guess I’ll have t have a sandwich, instead.

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 13-4-2016: Tiger Tiger

Right …

I’m going to be a man of few words, today: as I’m off to work in a second.

I’ve got SOMETHING of an early start, today: and want to make a packed lunch for when I get there.

Ahem!

With that said … ?

Let’s get a move on …

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 6-4-2016: At Waterloo,

Oh, now, I hate having to do that.

Phone in ill, to work.

Right at the moment?

My guts are seriously acting up.

Which is WHY I’ve phoned in ill.

It’s not something I like doing: however bad I feel, I hate letting the side down.

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 30-3-2016: Give God A Solo

Right …

I have a confession to make.

My guts HURT!

Frankly … ?

I think that’s a result of not having anything to eat, last night: after I got back from work.

It’s doubly painful, as it mean’s I’ve had to cancel seeing my nephew, Jude, today.

Not something I like doing, as you may realise.

The upside is that I’ll hopefully get to see my family on Sunday: the next time I have time off.

The Brentwood Gazette’s Weekly Teaser — 23-3-2016: Football Crazy

Right …

I’ve actually got a Wednesday off!

Wouldn’t you know it … ?

And, on top of everything else … ?   I’ve got phone calls to make!

I’ve just had a letter, telling me exactly how much housing benefit I’m getting: and therefore, how much rent I have to pay.

All good.

Bar the feeling of being rushed.

It’s Wednesday.

What else is new?
