Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th August 2025.

8th August, 2025.

Right … I’ve finally managed to catch … a TV show!

Yes: I’ve finished watching Max Headroom, the US series.

Granted: the series could get a little over-blown, at times, a little melodramatic.

And granted, it was cheap.

But … ?

The thing was very entertaining to watch.

And saw Max, and Blank Reg, (Matt Frewer and W. Morgan Sheppard) bagging some of the funnier lines: and Theora Jones (Amanda Pays) reminding me of Princess Diana.

About the only disappointing thing about the show … ?

Was that I could only find a DVD version, rather than a blu-ray copy.

I’d love to rewatch the thing: once the video had been cleaned up, and remastered, for modern TVs.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th August 2024.

8th August, 2024.

It’s official: it’s Thursday!

And, frankly?

My internal organs seem to be calming down!

I’m thankful!

And farting a lot less!

~≈💨≈~

A few days ago, I reported a huge pile of rubbish: that had been piled up over the road from my flat.

It was cleared up, a couple of days later.

By, I assumed, Brentwood Council.

At least, I assumed the unmarked van the cleared it was from Brentwood Council.

Until I checked my emails: and found the one from the council that said “We’re taking no action: the rubbish is on private land.”

There’s an old saying: that says your left hand should not know what your right hand is doing.

By the look of things … ?

Brentwood Council is trying to practise that!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th August 2023

8th August, 2023.

Yay!

It’s Tuesday!

Why?

Because it’s the day after Monday.

But you’d worked that out, already, hadn’t you … ?

At any rate … ?

I’m baby-sitting my nephew, this afternoon.

And planning on a letter to my GP: to see what help she, or the surgery, can offer for my PIP claim.

After I missed the call from the Social Prescriber!

We’ll have to see what we can do …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-8-2022 — Dustin Hoffman

8th August, 2022.

Right: it’s Monday, again.

A day with little to do.

Well … bar spending quality time with my nephew!

You can bet there’s another video coming …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th August, 2021

8th August, 2021.

Yep: it’s officially official.

I headed into Romford, yesterday.

And?

Well, Romford was comparatively sunny, yesterday.

Compared to Brentwood.

Which got at least one monsoon.

I know: I was watching it land on Brentwood Station!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-8-2020: Quorum

8th August, 2020.

Yes: it’s Saturday.

I’ve seen another episode of The Mandalorian.

Which is a good one for Western fans, I know that … !

At any rate … ?   It’s Saturday: and I suspect it’s going to be both quiet … and unpleasant.

It’s muggy …

Do you remember the digital poverty pieces I did?   Both here and for PhoenixFM?

As part of the basic research I did for Pt One?   I emailed the Department of Education, to see what they were doing to help.

The Department emailed me a reply — finally — yesterday.

What they’ve told me … ?   Is that …
‘… laptops and tablets will be provided for disadvantaged families, children and young adults who do not currently have access to them through another source, such as their school. Digital devices can be requested for:
care leavers.
children and young people aged 0 to 19, or young children’s families, with a social worker.
disadvantaged year 10 pupils.’
They also tell me that …
‘… internet access will be provided through 4G wireless routers for any of the following people who do not currently have it:
care leavers.
secondary school pupils with a social worker.
disadvantaged year 10.’
And that further help and guidance is available, here.

Here’s hoping that lot helps.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-8-2019: International Cat Day

8th August, 2019.

Right …

I have to confess to feeling mildly rushed.

I’m back to work, today: at my new job.

And?

My bus goes at twenty past nine!

Agh!

~≈§≈~

JUST as a quick thought?

Researchers have released Atomik.

A brand of vodka made using grain, and water, from the area around the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

I’m glad I don’t drink.

I’d hate to have a hangover from that …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th August, 2018

8th August, 2018.

It’s true: I possibly have an issue.

You see … I had a day off, yesterday.

That had been on the rota since last week.

And that was what I took.

The awkward bit?

Was my supervisor phoning in to where on Earth I was.

The rota had been changed.

Without me thinking to check — it’d written the diary entries, after all! — nor anyone mentioning the changes to me.

I think I’m ok.

While I don’t have the photo I took of the rota, I do have the emails that show I asked my co-workers if any of them needed me to work, last night: and none asked.

And I’ve the email I sent to the supervisor, showing that the only day I’d been asked to do, was this coming Sunday.

Hopefully?

I’m not in trouble.

But you can never tell.

~≈§≈~

In amongst all that … ?

The fact I watched more episodes of Westworld, last night, is — possibly — incidental.

But, given I’ve — in my past — used the services of illegal sites like Demonoid or Pirate Bay, I tend to follow news about entertainment technology, for some time.

So this piece, on the BBC’s site, caught my eye.

It tells us that legal online streaming is more common, now, than ever before.

Frankly?

I can’t help but think that’s a good thing.

And, hopefully?   Reduce piracy.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-8-2016

It’s official.

I’ve now got a few days off!

Yes …

It’s August, and I’ve got a holiday.

Personally?   Well, personally, I’m planning to see if I can persuade friend over: although I may go visiting.

On the other hand?

On the other hand I could equally sit in the back garden, sunning myself.

Which isn’t a good idea.

After all, ‘the back garden’ is the patch at the back of the building, where we can get to our gas meters.

And, on top of that?

I start sunbathing out there, beached whale rescue teams would show up, to through me back into the nearest ocean.

Well … either that …

Or I’d explode …
