I have officially woken up, this morning.

I tend to do that, a lot.

And?

I’ve woken up, switched on my computer, opened a browser and opened several tabs … 

And, in one of them … ?

I watched this trailer: 

… for a documentary called Survivors: the Spectre of Threads.

I wouldn’t mind seeing that.

The original Threads … ?

Is possibly the most powerful drama put to screen: any screen.

Just as a 180° degree switch … ?

A neighbour asked me to burn a CD, the other day.

Which I couldn’t do: clicked the relevant “Burn Playlist to disk” option … and got a “Please Insert CD” message pop up … 

Despite having already inserted the blank CD.

It’s only yesterday I thought “Hang on … should I have put the CD in, after clicking ‘Burn’?”

It turns out that’s exactly what I should’ve done.

Hmm … 

I was at my sister’s, last night: baby — ha! — sitting my nephew, Jude.

We’d natter whilst he watched YouTube on his PS5, and I watched the snooker final in the front room.

I think we had an entertaining evening.

Although I have to say: I dropped a chip.

And … ?

Ruth’s cat’s like bloody lightning!

We — and the cat! — had a good evening.

So did Chinese snooker.

As Zhao Xintong beat Mark Williams 18-12: and became China’s first snooker world champion in the process.

Well done, him: it’s one hell of a personal achievement, one I suspect will have a similar effect to Andy Murray winning Wimbledon.

And persuade lots of people in China join snooker clubs.

At any rate: congratulations to Xintong.

Now … will he be able to beat the Crucible Curse … ?

I seriously doubt it!

Right … it’s Bank Holiday Monday … !

And the excitement is almost overwhelming!

I think we can I’m heading for ironic, there!

I’ve very little planned: bar putting some laundry away, and watching the final of the snooker world championship.

It’s the Kyren Wilson vs Jak Jones match: with Wilson leading 11-6, overnight.

The last frame of last night’s second session?

Went down to the black ball.

And, my word … !

That … was real snooker.

6th May, 2023: The Coronation.

Right … 

I don’t know about King Charles … but I’m having a long day.

I was up at five: to try and see how much of the Coronation I could watch … without getting bored!

I’m not especially royalist.

But this is possibly the only Coronation that’ll happen in my lifetime!

Did I mention I had a doctor’s appointment, yesterday?

I had a doctor’s appointment, yesterday.

Or, at least, a diabetic checkup.

Apparently, my lipids are up.

But my glucose level has gone from 62 to 57.

So that’s something.

I’m fully expecting to be on the phone, today.

Or, at least, sat on a bench with a pen, some paper and my mobile: calling up various hospitals to make appointments.

The fact the mobile signal in the area is still bad?

Is not a good thing.

If push comes to shove?

I may have to head for the library, with my laptop …

The local elections results, in Brentwood?

Seem to have been settled: the Tories are still in charge: with the Liberal Democrats and Labour gaining seats.

Brentwood Council’s not published the results, as yet: so we won’t know the amount of spoilt votes, just yet.

As someone who routinely spoils his vote?

It’s something I’m interested in seeing.

Yes: it’s officially the day when two things are pencilled in.

Firstly?   I’ve got a Job Centre meeting with my case worker, today: rather than yesterday.

Mostly where she managed to re-schedule it: to get around yesterday’s physiotherapist meeting.

So that’s something to look forward to.

Secondly … ?

It’s Election Day: England’s voting for loads of local councils — including ones delayed from last year — Scotland’s voting for the Scottish Parliament, Wales has Welsh Send elections.

Northern Ireland has the day off … 

Frankly?   I’m going Green, again.

Although, as they’re not standing in the Police Commissioner elections?   I might just spoil my vote.

We’ll see.

Yes: I’m off to dinner at mum’s today: hopefully.

And I’m copying stuff over from my media collection to a USB stick, as we speak.

Hopefully, they’ll copy over — at Mum’s end — relatively quickly!

Equally as hopefully?

Jude will enjoy the movies.

I have a feeling Men in Black will appeal.

It’s just plain silly!

I’ve actually not got Radio 4 on.

Which will possibly surprise people.

What’s I’ve got going on?   Is an old episode of Radio 4’s The Reunion: originally recorded back in 2013.

All about the early days of Dr Who.

It’s worth a listen, I think: especially for a fan.

Hmmm … 

Did I mention I rarely make use of illegal stuff on the ’Net?

He says … !

I’m ALSO the kind of person who has nothing hide.

I wouldn’t know how to access the Dark Net’s famed ability to let you buy all sorts of illegal stuff.

But … ?

I value the fact that — if I’ve understood the law correctly — the Government has no power to read anything I do online.

NOR access any encrypted messages I send with things like iMessage, or Snapchat.

However?

The Government are planning to remedy that.   By adding powers to a bill, demanding a back-door to those messages.

AND the ability to do real time surveillance of people’s internet based communications.

At least, according to this piece.

Personally?

I realise there’s good arguments for doing so.

But … ?

There’s the online privacy thing.

I don’t think a government should be able to turn itself into Big Brother: by violating my privacy.

Or yours, come to that matter.

Personally?

I’m thinking it’s time to dig up my copy of Tor.

I think the Government wants to violate my privacy, and read over my shoulder.

That’s rude: if nothing else.
