Years and Years — Series 1— Episode 1.6 — A Review

16th July, 2019.

Yes: non-surprised is the word, I think.

I had an interview: Friday just gone, in fact.

And got told I’d hear whether I’d got the job, yesterday.

Did I hear … ?

Did I hear a thing?

Good, bad or indifferent, did I get a call, one way or the other?

No.

Not a blessed thing.

I’m …

Well, non-surprised … and unimpressed.

~≈†≈~

At any rate …

I have time on my hands.

And plenty of time to worry, as well, after a recent CT scan at Basildon Hospital.

Worrying ones, so you know.

But not ones I can do anything about, until the results come in.

Until then … ?

A TV box set is just the thing, I think.

Yes, you’re right.

I have just bought the last episode of Year and Years.

Years and Years — Series 1— Episode 1.5 — A Review

13th July, 2019.

Isn’t it always the way … ?

That — if you are out of work? — you have a lot of time to fill.

You’ve possibly already worked that out, though.

You’ve possibly also worked out that I’m in something of an emotional state.

Waiting for hospital results will do that to a body.

On the up side … ?

I’m expecting to hear from a potential employer: about a job.

Being caught on the horns of two very different phone calls?

Well …

Who wouldn’t be a wreck … ?

~≈§≈~

Saying that … ?

Saying that, I am trying to keep occupied.

This blog keeps me occupied: as do video games.

I have to admit, I’ve gotten quite far, in Sonic the Hedgehog 2!

Those help …

As do TV shows.

Yep.

In between the frantic stop in the social whirl?

I’ve seen another episode of Year and Years.

Years and Years — Series 1— Episode 1.4 — A Review

12th July, 2019.

Yes: it’s true.

For the first time in a couple of weeks, I’ve actually had a functioning interview.

For a job at a local betting shop.

The interview part seemed to go well: although I did have to mention that I’d need to to have to arrange my shifts, around various hospital visits.

Which didn’t seem totally unacceptable.

At least, from the sneaky look I got of the form the interview was filling … ?

The ‘Pros’ list seemed longer that the ‘Cons’ one: let’s put it like that.

Either way?

I’ll hear by Monday.

Hopefully?

I’ll get something positive out of a years that’s — thus far — been nasty.

~≈§≈~

One thing that HAS been good … ?

Is the amount of really good TV I’ve found, this year.

Time off … ?

Can do that to a body, I think.

At any rate, I’ve been watching the Russell T. Davies penned Year and Years.

And, yes: good seems to be the thing.

Years and Years — Series 1— Episode 1.3 — A Review

11th July, 2019.

Right …

That’s the tests done.

Just so you know?

I’ve been in to hospital, today: to have my lungs checked out.

I’m …

Well, I’m hoping I just have mild COPD: combined with …

Well, after smoking for twenty-seven years, I’m understandably concerned that — worst case — I have something seriously nasty.

I’m hoping it’s nothing more serious than some form of generic lump.

But have to be prepared for the worst …

~≈§≈~

Topping that off … ?

Or possibly tailing that … ?

I had a phone interview, yesterday: for a card payment company.

And completed an online test for them.

Oh …

I’ve also got an interview, tomorrow: for a local betting shop.

It …

Well, the timing could be odder …

~≈§≈~

As you can possibly imagine, it’s been a roller coaster day.

That hasn’t stopped me listening to music, right now: the Bladerunner sound track, if you must know.

Vangelis doing his hauntingly gorgeous bit seems to match my mood.

Mood, music and day … ?

Hasn’t stopped me watching TV.

Yep: you’re right.

Another episode of Year and Years.

Years and Years — Series 1— Episode 1.2 — A Review

10th July, 2019.

Did I mention I’d been to hospital, this week?

I’ve been to hospital, this week: on Monday, if you must know.

Believe it or not?

Getting hold of what’s called a CPAP machine: designed to help me breath whilst sleeping.

I’ve another appointment, tomorrow.

For a CT scan on my lungs.

Am I worried?

Fuck, yes.

I’m hoping that — as my GP has assured me — that it’s nothing serious.

I hope so.

Anything involving my lungs is worrying.

Given my paternal grandfather died of lung cancer?

Well, you can appreciate me worrying.

~≈§≈~

At any rate, is — beyond worrying — there anything I can do about this, right now?

Frankly?

No.

All I can do tonight, is relax: and enjoy myself.

Yes.

I’ve caned the iPlayer, again …

And watched episode 2 of Year and Years …

Years and Years — Series 1— Episode 1.1 — A Review

9th July, 2019.

You know, it comes to something: when the Job Centre tell’s you, you owe it money.

There’s a bit of a story, there: but basically?

I had a bit of ticket money left over: from the last interview.

Money I’d agreed to pay back at my next meeting with my work coach, on the 25th.

Except … ?

I got a message from the Job Centre, today, in the online jobseekers account  I have with them … asking me to come in, today, to repay it.

Luckily?

I just about had the cash.

As you can imagine, though?   I made a point of mentioning that the verbal arrangement I’d made with work coach.

Which, as it turned out … wasn’t recorded in the notes.

Hmmm …

I think I’ll need a word, somewhere along the line.

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

I’ve had another free evening.

One I could well have used industriously doing stuff.

But one I chose to spend watching TV.

Well, it’s a new one, after all.

And … ?

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve seen something with Russell T Davies’ name on it.

Taking a punt on Year and Years seemed the thing to do.
