Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-5-206 — Shaffer and Shaffer (Six questions)

15th May, 2026: Shaffer and Shaffer.

Right … it’s PAY DAY!

Which means I can buy chocolate: I’ve been craving it for days.

Why … ?

I have no idea … !

~≈🍫≈~

It seems Kier Starmer, the UK’s Prime Minister, is facing problems: after bad results for Labour at this year’s local elections.

Problems that include leadership contender, Wes Streeting, resigning his ministerial post.

And fellow leadership contender, Andy Burnham, in a position to stand as an MP … and therefore challenge the PM as party leader.

I think any challenge is going to take a while.

If for no other reason than Andy Burnham would have to be elected to Parliament, before he could launch a challenge.

I can’t help but vaguely think a few things.

Think that Wes Streeting seems a little too fat, a little too sleek, too untrustworthy, for my tastes.

By contrast?

Andy Burnham has a huge advantage.

He’s presentable … and has a Scouse accent, a Liverpool accent.

In other words, has an accent that sounds honest.

Burnham’s probably no less a lying ragbag than any other politician.

And, frankly?

He’d have little chance of winning an election, if he stood here in Brentwood: Brentwood’s been a safe Tory seat for years, and one that’s likely to elect a Reform MP at the next General Election.

But if I lived in a left leaning constituency?

I’d be happy to vote Burnham.

Purely because he sounds honest …

That’s one hell of an asset.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-5-2025 — Mike Oldfield (Ten Questions)

15th May, 2025: Mike Oldfield.

It’s officially official: I’ve received an award!

Well, not exactly.

I’ve received a pre-paid card from Southend Council run scheme.

That’s very well timed … especially as I get some benefits, tomorrow!

Either way … ?

I’ve put some money on the gas.

Hopefully, I’ll built up a lot of money on the metre, by winter: that’s when I’ll really need it.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-5-2024 — Viva Las Vegas

15th May, 2024: Viva Las Vegas.

Right … it’s now Wednesday …

And frankly, I’ve caught up with my sleep!

Which is definitively nice.

I’ll see if I can get more sleep … after my nephew goes home.

He’s due to spend the evening, today.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th May 2023.

15th May, 2023.

Right … I’m officially up early.

As … ?   I’ve got a weight management meeting, again: in Brentwood High Street.

Hopefully?

I’ll’ve shaved some weight off.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th May, 2022.

15th May, 2022.

Yes, it is, isn’t it?

It’s nice for Ukraine that they won Eurovision, last night: with the rousing Stephania.

Good for them.

The UK … ?   Actually came second.

No that I’ve actually heard the song: I turned it off after a few seconds

At any rate, well done to both of them.

And to the Spanish entry: apparently, they’ve caused the sort of scandal you only get at Eurovision.

~≈Á≈~

At any rate … ?

I wasn’t actually watching the contest.

Partly because Ukraine’s win seemed to be a foregone conclusion.

But partly?   Because I was making another video review.

Here’s what I thought of All In …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-5-2021: Eno …

15th May, 2021.

OK …

When I made that introduction?   The weather was looking overcast.

Which was nice: I forgot to get bread and milk, yesterday.

Just minutes later … ?   When I added the rain to the video … ?

It was raining.

I think I’m going to get wet …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th May, 2020.

15th May, 2020.

It’s official the case …

I’ve finished reading a book.

Ian Fleming’s Live and Let Die: the second of his James Bond novels, and the one that features Mr Big* as the villain.

The thing sees Bond trying to foil Mr Big’s gold smuggling operation: gold coin smuggled out of the Caribbean in fish tanks holding poisonous fish.

It’s a good little thriller: although I have to admit, I don’t know that’s it’s aged as well as it could.

The word ‘negro’ cropped up in places where I’d’ve expected to see something else, something more relevant to the scene: ‘thug,’ say, ‘musician,’ or ‘boatman.’

Something a little more relevant to the context, and a little less inflammatory!

‘Negro’ is, I think, an ugly word: and, at least, mildly insulting to any of Fleming’s black readers.

Possibly the book could be edited a little, to cater to a modern audience: I really couldn’t tell you.

It’s interesting … but …

VHS Massacre: Cult Films and the Decline of Physical Media — A Review

15th May, 2019.

Life is … odd, sometimes.

Really.

I’ve …

No, that’s possibly not the direction to go in, now is it … ?

Life … ?   Is what it is: odd, or otherwise.

At any rate … ?

At any rate, I had my nephew over, last week.

As a result … ?

SOMEONE mentioned to Grandma that Uncle’s Paul’s flat’s a bit mucky.

Which meant — if nothing else — making an effort to tidy the place seemed in order.

I’ve done the wall mounted cupboards.

Emptied them out, cleaned any surfaces that need cleaning, got rid of anything with a pre-war* sell-by date, what have you.

Jude possibly won’t be impressed, either way.

At least, not until Antman and the Wasp turns up with pizza.

I, on the other hand?

I’ve got a vague sense of achievement out of the job: plus more room in my cupboards.

And a conundrum or two.

Where did all the teacups — with matching saucers — come from?

And …

Where the hell did I get the plate with the cheesy 70s style cow from … ?

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

The job situation is …

Well, still ongoing.

Jude’s not here, until tomorrow.

Teasers — and the associated videos — done: up until the end of the month.

Frankly?

Believe it or not?   I fancied a documentary.

Given I’ve always taken an interest in technology, and that an old friend that suggested it?

Nik NAk’s Daily Teaser — 15th May, 2019

15th May, 2019

Oh, wait, hang on, a minute.

I’ve got a decided earworm.

Yes: I have a song playing through my head.

The B-52 tune, Roam.

Why?

I wish I knew.

All I CAN tell you, is that it’s not not my favourite B-52 song: that’s Song for a Future Generation* … !

Or possibly Rock Lobster.

The incredibly menacing sounding Rock Lobster, or even more menacing Planet Claire …

So why on EARTH I’ve got Roam floating around?

I really couldn’t tell you!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th May, 2018

15th May, 2018.

YeP: I’ve got Just a Minute on in the background: with Paul Merton, Graham Norton, Fern Brittan and Sheila Hancock, in this opening episode.

With the last round about cacti.

You can possibly imagine the comments about Nicholas Parson’s tie …

At ANY rate?   It’s good to hear the show back in action.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-5-2017: McDonalds

You know …

The recent ransomware attack is generating headlines.

As many security experts are expecting more reports of attempted ransomware attacks.

Especially at a lot of GP surgeries: the ones that were closed over the weekend.

I’m listening to the Today programme, at the moment.

And I’m getting the feeling there’s going to be a blame game going on.

Various government ministers seem to pointing fingers — at other ministers departments! — and saying they haven’t spent the money correctly.

There’s something else.

The attack has its roots in a flaw originally spotted by the US National Security Agency … and not passed by them to Microsoft.

Microsoft have gone on the record, to ask why the NSA didn’t send them an email: comparing doing so to nicking a US Army missile.

My cynical side?

Will point out that’s possibly so they can hit Russia or China with ransomware attacks.

Personally, I think several things.

But this is the import an one

Doing security updates and backups are important: as is making sure you do them, quickly.

I’ll leave that, there, I think.
