Class: Series 1 — Episode 8 - The Lost

*Spoilers*

7th December, 2016

I have to confess, my new job … ?   Is great.

Really.

It pays me just about money to survive on.

And possibly even thrive: in a very small way.

At least it lets me pay for Christmas presents.   And should — HA! — let me pay for a new washing machine or computer: should I manage to save up enough cash to put towards them!

So I am — in theory, any way — a happy bunny.

One thing I do miss about being out of work, though … ?

Is the fact I’d’ve had a touch more time to at least catch up with favourite TV shows.

Not that I necessarily had the money to buy that much in the way of box sets, but it’s amazing what you can do on a tight budget.

One thing I have had time to catch, over the past few weeks … ?

Is the BBC 3 series, Class.

And, yes: I know the gag that it lives up to its name — it’s classy, in other words — is getting old, by now.

But?

It’s true.

This is a series that, to date, has shown me it’s well written, acted and engaging.

And the eighth episode, The Lost?

Is both a finale that matches what’s gone before in quality …

AND exceeds it.

Class: Series 1 — Episode 7 - The Metaphysical Engine, or What Quill Did.

30th November, 2016.

OK, it’s Saint Andrews Day.

For many of us?

It’s going to be a day for celebrating our inner Scottishness.

Speaking as a non-Scot?

I’m not.

I’ve a day off, though.

For me?   That’s meant ironing: an office job that demands shirts, means one has to have something that looks flat.

Oh, and making videos.

I couldn’t tell you what’s chewed up more time, over the years.

Ironing, work, writing this blog …

Sometimes, it feels like I’ve got a couple of jobs … !

At ANY rate?   The other thing that chews up time, is TV.

And, frankly?

Just recently, my attention’s been caught by one series: the BBC3 based, online only — for now — Dr Who spin-off.

And yes, the name’s still accurate.

Class: Series 1 — Episode 6 - Detained.

Hmmm …

OK …

As you might realise — if you’d read this morning’s Daily Teaser — I’ve had problems using my version of Safari with my blog: as a result of changes made by Google.

I’ll happily admit, having to switch to using Google Chrome … is getting slightly easier …

But still not something I’m pleased about.

At any rate … ?

At any rate, I’ve had today off.

It’s a Wednesday, what can I tell you … ?

Which means, of course, that I’ve had to catch up with some TV.

And, if you’ve been reading me for a while?

You’d probably realise I’ve been — and thoroughly enjoying — BBC 3’s Class.

I’ve just caught the sixth episode, Detained.

And have to admit to liking it!

Class: Series 1 — Episode 5 - Brave-ish Heart

16th November, 2016

It’s official … it’s a Wednesday.

One I’ve had off …

And spent time writing, ironing, with one friend …

Oh …

And catching up with a TV show …

Yes: before you ask …

I sat myself down with the most recent episode of Class.

OK …

The fight scene dragged …

Class: Series 1 — Episode 4 - Co-owner of a Lonely Heart

9th November, 2016

You know …

I was hoping to catch some quality time with a friend, this evening: with maybe a movie.

I didn’t, eventually.

Well …

I didn’t catch the movie: let’s put it that way.

I did manage to catch the quality time.

So that’s all good.

Something else I managed to catch?

Something else I managed to catch is this week’s episode of BBC 3’s latest Class.

And, frankly?

I’m thinking class is what it’s showing.

Class: Series 1 — Episode 3 - Nightvisiting

1st November, 2016.

You know, there’s very few fine things in life.

And yes: I’m very aware that your definition of ‘fine things in life,’ is going to be different to my definition.

Sometimes, though?

They might not be so different.

I’m assuming, here, we’ll agree about …

  • A good meal.
  • A fine wine: or whatever equivalent you prefer.   (Tea, coffee, beer, whatever.)
  • A bit of entertainment …
To be frank?

It’s the last that get’s my attention …

Entertainment.

You see, I’m something of a Dr Who fan: and kept up with Torchwood, whilst it lasted.

So … ?

My point, here, as that I was never one the listened to the Big Finish audio Dr Who stories.

But DID like the idea of more stories set in one of my favourite fictional universes.

Then Class started on online BBC channel, BBC 3.

And, after seeing the first two episodes, a few days ago … ?

I think I can include nominate Class to my ‘Fine Things’ list …

Especially given Episode 3 …

Class: Series 1 — Episodes 1 and 2 - For Tonight We Might Die and The Coach With The Drago Tattoo

April (Sophie Hopkins)

Ram (Fady Elsayed)
25th October, 2016.

Charlie (Greg Austin)
Over the years?   Over the years, I’ve liked watching TV shows.

Tanya (Vivian Oparah)
You’ve possibly noticed, haven’t you?

Miss Quill (Katherine Kelly)
You’ve possibly also noticed I’m something of a Dr Who fan: ands, when it was aired?

I was glued to it’s spin-off, Torchwood.

With the latter cancelled — or, at least, on permanent hold — Dr Who’s suffered a little: for the want of a darker and edgier sibling show.

Something that the BBC — along with Dr Who show runner, Stephen Moffat — announced they were to remedy.

Announcing, in October of last year, a new spin-off, called Class, would be aired this year.

The first two episodes?

Were released on BBC 3, the BBC’s online TV channel, on 22nd of October of this year.

Saturday, just gone, in other words.

I’ve just watched them.

I think I’m impressed …
