Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-3-2019: Leonard Nimoy

26th March, 2019.

It had to be said …

I never know where those intro videos are going to go.

But do know a couple of things.

It’s a hill in New Zealand, so you know.

Oh …

And blatantly nicked from Quantum Jump’s Lone Ranger.

Heigh Ho …

In other news … ?

In other news, Apple have announced their AppleTV+ service …

And run over the top of the rest of the stuff I can run on my AppleTV: I’ll find out in Autumn, along side everyone else.

Bar the fact Netflix isn’t taking part in the service?

It looks interesting.

They’ve ALSO announced something else.

An Apple branded credit card.

Quite what’s happening, there, I don’t know.

But I suspect that could be the ground breaker …

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) — A Review

27th January, 2019.

Right …

It’s a late night for me: as I’ve started writing this at, what … ?

Just coming up to 11:30 … ish.

And, frankly … ?

I’m just about ready to go to bed …

after I’ve finished my coca.

As the situation with iMovie is getting ridiculous.

Frankly?

The second of those intro videos was done with a free piece of software I’d found on the App Store, and wanted to try.

The curse of unemployment is simply the fact you have a lot of time on your hands.

No money to do anything — like buy new software — but time on your hands.

Tonight … ?   After having dinner with my family?

I had time on my hands … and a desire to catch up with quite a few things.

Not least, El Ministerio Del Tiempo: The Ministry of Time, if you want that in English

I think I’m getting withdrawal symptoms!

Then again … ?

Then again, tomorrow is another day.

That’s when I can start catching up with the second season of El Ministerio Del Tiempo.

Much as I wanted to get started, there?

I do know there’s a few films in my collection I wanted to watch.

The one I ended up with … ?

And had been meaning to see since I’d catch the original 1956 version?

Was the 1978, Donald Sutherland vehicle, Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I think I’ve made the right decision, there …

The Daily Teaser — 26-3-2016

You know, I had a letter from my landlords, the other day.

Mostly … ?   Mostly reminding people that the street’s looking a bit … messy.

One aspect that caught me?

Was getting warned about the amounts of dog poo, on the street: and reminded we can be fined for letting our dogs — if we have one — foul the streets.

Fair dos: if you’ll excuse the phrase!

I have to admit, though, I quickly emailed my landlady.

Mostly, because I felt that having a few more dog mess bins on street would be help.

The thing is … ?

That video shows the corner of my street, as you walk towards my building.

I could’ve sworn there was a dog mess bin, there!

Oy … veh …

The Daily Teaser — 28-2-2015

You know, THAT’s … upsetting … !

When I was young, the BBC only showed two science fiction shows.

Dr Who was one.

And, in between Dr Who seasons?   They’d show the original version of Star Trek.

I remain a lifelong Dr Who fan as a result.   And someone who’s thoroughly enjoyed Star Trek, ever since watching the repeats growing up in the 1970s and 80s.

So yesterday’s news — that actor, Leonard Nimoy, who’d played Commander Spock — was both saddening … and something I found genuinely upsetting.

After all … the man who played the one visibly alien — and friendly alien, although I’m sure Spock would raise an eyebrow at the word — was iconic: and helped make both the role, the series, and the genre, the winning things they are, today.

RIP, Leonard Nimoy.

Earth is a lesser place, after your death.

Leonard Nimoy: March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015. RIP

You know, when I was child, the BBC would regularly show two science fiction shows.

Or show two such shows, for a family audience.

Dr Who was one.

I remain a life fan of the show, as a result.

The other SF show Aunty Beeb aired … ?

Was Star Trek: possibly the USA’s favourite SF piece.

One of the iconic characters?

Was Mr Spock.

So getting news, today, that Leonard Nimoy, the actor who played Spock, has died … ?

Is saddening to hear.
