Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th September 2025 (Six Questions)

17th September, 2025: Six Questions.

OK, OK … !

I made a mistake!

And I’m suitably embarrassed!

I also owe Scott Jenkins, over on Bluesky, a vote of thanks.

For pointing out Elvis Presley died on 16th August, and not 16th September!

Thank you, Scott!

What? He died AUGUST 16, not September. 🙄

You’re possibly aware that the US president is on a state visit to the UK: accompanied by various hangers-on.

Hangers-on that include Satya Nadella, the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft: who’s announced that Microsoft is to invest substantial amounts of money in the UK’s AI industry.

He’s said as much in an interview on the Today programme, only a few minutes ago.

The interview also saw him use words to the effect that “people can trust US tech companies”.

Given the bad press I’ve seen around the amount of advertising included with Windows 11?

I laughed.

~≈🪟≈~

Oh …

I’ve upgraded my computer.

Or, at least, I’ve upgraded my Mac mini from macOS Sequoia (macOS 15.6.1) to macOS Tahoe (macOS 26.0).

There’s a lot of nice cosmetic changes.

Although Apple seems to have changed folder icon colours: so they match the default text highlight colour.

Which I’ve worked out you can change by tinkering around in the Appearance settings.

Screenshots now seem to be saved in the HEIC format: rather than the usual .png format.

Changing screen savers involves an extra step.

Oh, and the Launchpad application launcher has been replaced by an Apps app.

Which is differently organised: and one I’m not sure I like.

This may be unfamiliarity talking: but the Launchpad overlay seemed easier to use and organise: as opposed to Apps, which seems fiddly by comparison.

From the little feedback I’ve had on Mastodon?

It’s getting comments …

~≈🐘≈~

Oh, I do know Image Playground’s now had a few tweaks: including being connected to ChatGPT.

Which could led to privacy concerns, even whilst it’s making fun images.

You see what I mean: about laughing when Satya Nadella said we can trust US companies?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-9-2024 — Bewitched

17th September, 2024: Bewitched.

Right … It’s Tuesday: and we can safely say I’m back from my weight management group.

And … ?

I’m officially up, six hundred gram: cancelling the half a kilo I lost, last week.

If anyone has a sarcastic picture of a yo-yo, I’d love to see it!

~≈🪀≈~

On other fronts?

I notice one piece that’s gone past on this morning’s Today programme.

That — according to a study by Aston University — the UK’s imports from, and exports to, the European Union have gone down since Brexit.

I’m … unsurprised.

And, frankly?

Pleased I voted Remain, in 2016.

And shall tactfully remain silent … …

~≈🇪🇺≈~

Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of X … ?

Has been behaving badly.

Seemingly, he’s made a — now deleted — post on the service: complaining that no-one’s trying to assassinate Kamala Harris.

There’s possibly a lot we can say.

But I’m betting the word ‘irresponsible’ will be one of the words we use.

And, in a statement to reporters?

The White House has said “Violence should not* be condemned, never encouraged or joked about …”

To quote Terry Pratchett, again … ?
“Now there’s a line that needed the celebrated Guardian proof-reading.”
Terry Pratchett.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th September 2023.

17th September, 2023.

Right … it’s now Sunday.

And … ?

I’ve the soundtrack for Chernobyl — the TV show — on in the background!

It’s still as powerful as, and as unnerving, it was.

~≈®≈~

At ANY rate … ?

We weren’t talking about videos, there, were we?

We weren’t.

But … ?

I’ve another review done: and thought I’d share it.

Feel free to hit ‘Share’ … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-9-2022 — M*A*S*H

17th September, 2022.

Yep: I’ve officially got my nephew over, later.

And just enough cash to get a bagel or two, for lunch.

Assuming I can persuade Jude it’s a good idea, in between video edits!

Heigh Ho!

~≈¥≈~

Oh, JUST so everyone knows?

I watch the first episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, last night.

I’ll have my written review up, tonight: but it’s very watchable.

I’ve also pencilled in watching the Second Doctor story, The Abominable Snowmen, for some time during the week.

That should be interesting.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th September, 2021.

17th September, 2021.

Drat is definitely the word, I think.

The bulb in my lamp has gone.

I think I’m going to have to buy a new one … as it’s a screw-in bulb, rather then a bayonet one.

In other words … ?

It’s a bulb I don’t have!

Oy!

~≈💡≈~

A hero died yesterday.

I grew up in the 1980s: back when home computers — cheap computers aimed at the home user — were invented.

They were everywhere: the Oric, the BBC, the Commodore 64 …

The ZX Spectrum: the computer I grew up on, and the computer that taught a generation of British programmers to code, in much the same way that people are now learning on the Raspberry Pi.

Especially the games programmers.

At least one old friend owes his career to the Spectrum: and to the man who invented it.

It was cheap, available, and comparatively easy to use.

Yesterday … ?

Yesterday saw the death of inventor, Clive Sinclair: the man behind Sinclair Research, and the ZX Spectrum, died.

The man could, famously, be difficult to work with … but also was possibly* the biggest influence on the British computer industry, today.

He’ll be missed: and hard to replace.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-9-2020: The National Football League

17th September, 2020.

Yep: I managed to finish watching Des, last night.

And … ?

I think I’ve just seen one hell of a series.

Last night’s episode covered the trial.

Actually, I remember the trial!

As I recall, the newspaper coverage of the psychiatric elements of the trial were quite something.

From what I remember, there were arguments about whether Nilsen had Borderline Personality Disorder, or Narcissistic Personality Disorder, what either of them were … and whether they actually existed.

Yes: I can see why David Tennant’s getting the plaudits he is.

He’s done his usually fantastic job.

That’s …

Actually unsurprising: it’s David Tennant.

We expect the man to do a fantastic job: which he has, in his take on the serial killer.

Like I say, it’s unsurprising.

The actor who does get my praise is Daniel Mays.

I first saw him in Outcasts, many year ago.

And didn’t necessarily come away impressed with him, or it.

The things I’ve seen him in, since, though?

Have been definitely better choices.

Des?

Was an utter winner, in that sense.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-9-2019: Boston.

17th September, 2019.

Right …

It’s not often I get to criticise a Prime Minister.

Much!

But … ?

He didn’t take part in a joint press conference, yesterday.

This is after — at Prime Minister’s Questions, a few weeks ago — calling Jeremy Corbyn a chicken.

Am I the only person thinking Boris have issues, dealing with the public?

Apparently not.

Frankly?

The sooner an election takes place, the better.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-9-2018: Taking A Constitutional …

17th September, 2018.

Yes: it’s Monday.

And frankly, I’m in money troubles, already.

To be honest?

I’m having to send off a letter: to try and make sure I can keep reduced payments, reduced.

Wish me luck.

American Horror Story — Series 3: Coven — Episodes 7, 8 & 9: The Dead, The Sacred Taking and Head

17th September, 2017.

Bloody hell, it’s — comparatively — late!

Ar least, for starting a blog post, it’s late.

Did you managed read this morning’s Teaser?

If you did, you’d possibly have realised I’ve been over my family’s for dinner.

And … ?

And to help build a new rabbit hutch for Mikey and Donnie, my nephew’s rabbits.

Well … Grandma, Ruth and I built the hutch.

Whilst Jude supervised, obviously.

Which has left me fed, mildly tired …

But still keen to watch more episodes of season three of American Horror Story.

Coven’s wandering a bit, maybe.

But still looking good.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-9-2017: Lord of the Flies.

Hmmmm …

Looks like it’s the last bit of (paid) annual leave, today.

Frankly?

I’m visiting family today.

After all, I’ve not seen my nephew for a while.

Although I don’t know how much chatting we’ll do.

Yep.

Uncle Paul’s been conscripted into building a rabbit hutch … !

~≈Ê≈~

In all this … ?

In all this, I have to admit I’ve caught three more episodes of series three — Coven — of American Horror Story.

In the midst of all this?

The thing’s looking good.

And features some incredible strong female characters.

Series regulars, Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson, doing well as mother and daughter, Fiona and Cordelia: and are joined by Kathy Bates as a 19th century society hostess, and Angela Bassett as a voodoo priestess.

I have to say: Bassett is one of the most sympathetic — and plausible — villains I’ve seen on TV fr a while.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-9-2017

That’s a thought …

I’ve got the radio on: or, at least, Radio 4 is on, on my digital TV.

The Today programme, so you know.

Of course, they’ve had a brief item on Le Carré’s latest work, A Legacy of Spies: the most recent, and possibly the last, to feature Le Carré’s most famous character.

Smiley …

They made a rather good point.

That Bond?   Is not a spy: he’s really a hired gun, an assassin.

Smiley, on the other, is something Britain is rather good at.

Being not a spy … but a wizard …

I’m not sure if they have a thought, there, or not: but the fact the character’s an old fashioned sort of spy, a wizard in the sense that his powers come from knowing that one extra fact?

Certainly made sense to me.

And matches very well wit Alec Guinness’s other well known role: of a wizard with a magic sword* …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-9-2016

Right …

I’m actually up, later than I have been, just recently.

But then … ?

I think I needed the sleep!

Stress, eh … ?

At any rate?

The two interviews I’ve had this week, haven’t contacted me.   I’m assuming that means I’ve bagged neither job.

Which is disappointing.

What make’s it worse?   Is simply not hearing.

At ANY rate?

I’ve two more interviews, this week.   One on Tuesday.   And one today, at four: in Billericay.

I hope they go well.

And hope they tell me whether I’ve got the blessed thing … !
